Summary: I was not expecting dslr quality from this camera but I at least expected it to have better photo quality than my sony point and shoot and it did not. Pictures in good lighting looked great but once you go indoors pictures are unusable- blurry and dull. Also, the 14-42mm kit lens seriously feels like a toy and very cheaply made. I unfortunately had to return this camera.
Summary: I'm well experienced with standard SLRs before the digital age, as well as with digital cameras from the beginning. I had severe focusing issues with this unit. It may have just been the particular one I had, but I did end up returning it. I can't say they're all that way and from the reviews they're not, but I wanted to share that experience.
Summary: Greetings fellow amazonians I picked this up for eugene (he's my it guy) because around here it's gas, grass or ..... no one rides for free (and while I would have no problem sending eugene out to siphon my neighbors gas I think he would screw it up). So he is using this camera to take pictures of rubes in old fashoined clothes for 25 bucks apiece.
Excerpt: same here, i thought it would be a good idea if i bought a micro four thirds first before getting full frame SLR, but to my disappointment, this camera gives no better result compared to my point&shoot, instead it brings a lot of headaches. the problem is, most of the pictures i take are dark and underexposed if i don't use flash indoors, and the outdoor capturing don't yield better results too.
Excerpt: I am sure that once I have sussed out how to use this camera it will be great but I am finding it very hard to understand, thus, my pictures aren't coming out as good as I want... especially indoor ones. I really need to study the manual and watch the Panasonic Tutorial Videos. I have owned the Panasonic Lumix TZ1 for a while now and think it is brilliant and I expected the GF3 to run with the same menus.
Pros: I've had _very_ good luck with Panasonic Lumix cameras - people with other small cameras often comment on the quality of the photos I've taken with them.
Cons: The removal of a hot shoe is pretty much a deal killer for me. As it stands, this camera doesn't have as large a sensor as the Sony, or the hot shoe that the Olympus PEN E-PL3 (or Panasonic Lumix GF2) have. Btw, I disagree that camers of this ty
Rubbish indoors - even with moderately bright rooms. Slow shutter speed.

Summary: Bought this camera just before Xmas and took it on a 10 day holiday where I tested it extensively. I am not an expert - this is my first upgrade from a decent compact. I read all the reviews and was compelled by the enthusiasm for this camera. Yes, there were lots of pluses - the interface seemed pretty intuitive and easy to find things. I was able to play around with the different settings easily, to experiment.
