  • Summary: Nice camera, easy to use. Needs greater low light sensitivity: too noisy at the higher end.

User Review

blessings, DP Review
5 March 2014
  • Excerpt: The camera is light, small compared to the DLSR from Canon and Nikon. The image quality even with the standard lens (low in price) is sharper. I have added the 25mm Leica lens for close ups. WOW. It has been a reliable performer. Would recommend it.

good not great

S. Erickson "serick17", Amazon
3 March 2014
  • Summary: I have used the g3 for about 1.5yr now and really don't see a size advantage over a full sized dslr camera. Can't possible put it in any normal pocket, and usually carry a bag to drag this and related equipment around. On the neck it fits better under a jacket and is lighter, but that is it. The kit lense is ok, but could benefit from a bit more zoom. In low light photos are ok, but expect trouble focusing. Videos and sound are good.

Panasonic G3 short personal experience summary

Ran Finsterbush, Amazon
5 September 2013
  • Summary: I bought this compact and powerful camera as a hybrid still-video camera. It is a very good camera, however there are some disappointments: The good: 1. Very good RAW quality files. Can produce great and very sharp images 2. Excellent prime lenses (25mm and 34mm). 3. Good metering. 4. Excellent target tracking. I.E. touch press to select a target and the camera does a good job tracking the target you selected. 5. Excellent ergonomics.

Excellent micro 4/3 camera

R. Thomas, Amazon
18 June 2013
  • Summary: The image quality is supurb for a micro 4/3 camera. It has enough adjustment to keep a pro happy, including touch screen, and a near flawless auto mode when you need it. My only issue is when you go to take a low light shot, it will only go to ISO 800 automatically, to go higher you must manually adjust it, which wastes time (I bought a Panasonic GX1 to get around this issue, it goes to ISO 1600 automatically).

A Very Fine Camera

Stephen Spitzer, Amazon
2 April 2013
  • Summary: I bought this for a very good price the beginning of 2013, after the G5 came out. My only other micro four thirds camera is an E-PL1, which I had bought refurbished to see if I liked the format. I leaned towards Olympus at first because of the built in Optical Image Stabilization, which I consider rather important. But after purchasing two Panasonic telephoto lenses with built in O.I.S.

Like it

Arrowhead, Amazon
7 March 2013
  • Summary: Excellent camera and easy to just pick up and use immediately. I enjoy photographing birds, so I ordered the Panasonic 45-200mm lens. I prefer the way you zoom on a point and shoot camera over twisting a lens barrel, but I wanted to have a variety of lens, so had to go w/this system. My pic's and video turn out great. Panasonic makes great camera equipment.

I am loving this camera

Howard, Amazon
30 December 2012
  • Summary: I have been procrastinating over buying a decent camera for ages and had my eye on this one for a while. I took the plunge and I have to say this camera is amazing considering the features and flexibility for the cost. The speed at which this thing focuses is amazing. A definite recommend for anyone looking for entry level SLR performance at a bargain.
