Excerpt: The Lumix FX78 is a appealing, sophisticated and truly a marvelous piece of machinery. It is nothing short of Genius. The FX78 is a small and light shirt pocket camera you can carry with you all the time, At The Ready, without being burdensome, and actually you don’t even notice you are carrying it. I have been using it now for about a week, and these are my initial impressions.
Excerpt: This is an excellent product for taking pictures and shooting movies. You can shoot Half HD (720p) directly in MOV file. The image focus and stabilisation work great. Pictures are of great quality thanks to the Leica 1:2.5-5.9f lens. You can shoot decent pictures even with less light, which is useful if you want to take a close up of a baby without the flash. I personally prefer taking pictures at the maximum resolution 12Mpixels in the 4:3 format.
Summary: The camera takes crystal clear photos. I love the large touchscreen and the moveable focuspoint, it ensures always well focused pictures. Apart from chosing where the focus point should be, I only just press the button. The results are fantastic. You do not have to re-compose after focusing; once you've chosen the area that should be focused, you just shoot. My father has a brand new Leica costing 1500 dollars, it cant beat my little Lumix.
Summary: I bought this because it had good reviews. I have found it easy to use and particularly like the large flat screen which is the size of the whole camera. The zoom is easy to use. I am not a great camera expert - I like to just point and click, so this suits me fine. Some software comes with the camera for picture editing using a PC and this is the default, but I prefer to just download pictures into a folder on my PC.
