Summary: I have been a big fan of the Panasonic Lumix camera family for several years. I own two DMC-FX9 and a Panasonic SDR-S10 camcorder. I recently purchased the DMC-FX580 and have been absolutely amazed at the quality of the still shots as well as the video. I love the Lumix cameras and the Leica lens, but I am very disappointed in the utter lack of customer service from Panasonic. Questions and possible orders for accessories go unanswered.
Summary: Good sturdy camera without being too heavy, LCD screen clear as a bell, menu helpful and pictures taken up to now have been excellent, not hard to use but not exactly easy either, appears to be a good alround reasonably priced digital camera. We haven't found anything to criticise as yet, however as there's nothing perfect in this world, I'm sure we will find something over time!
Summary: I bought this camera one year ago and I was never disappointed. The user interface and handling are top although the camera is like a brick. The build feels very solid. In my jeans I prefer the Fuji Finepix JX 350 because it has rounded edges. The image quality of the FX550 is perfect for such a small sensor, even low-light pictures are OK with an acceptable amount of noise.
Summary: I would recommend this camera to anyone with a casual interest in photography, who wants to experiment with different shots and styles. This is because it is very affordable for a camera of its quality and has many different settings, allowing you to edit shutter speed, aperture etc. Overall a great camera that I have had great fun using.
Summary: Bought as a back up to Panasonic FZ38. A brilliant little camera, quick to turn on and touch screen more than useful. Very good to use in the tight confines of the workshop on a tripod - photographing ship models and parts of models. A bit slow on continuous shooting, for surfing etc, but then, that is what the FZ38 is for. Good range of shutter and apertures in full manual mode, and histogram still leaves a lot of the LED screen visible for composition.
Easy to use and better pictures than my friend's SLR

Summary: I'm so glad I bought this, for a small camera it really does the trick beautifully. I have taken some fantastic photos with it... this is as easy and stress free as it gets. I don't use the touch screen that much but intelligent auto is perfect and it does give you some fab options with regards to evening shots... I took a couple of night pics on slow exposure and it came out brilliant.
Summary: I looked at a lot of cameras before choosing the Lumix FX550. I'm very pleased with my choice and although I have a lot to learn about it yet, the first pictures are all I could ask for.The 3.0 inch screen is much better than the one on my old camera, and so far it's been easy to use. It's also neat, compact and slips easily in my handbag.
