Summary: This is a nicely built camera. Solid metal case has withstood rough handling and even a 4' drop onto a metal floor (dented the casing but camera functioned without a hiccup). Image quality is nice but not quite as natural or smooth as those from Canon. Autofocus is also slower than Canon and can be very indecisive in certain conditions, a problem for spontaneous picture taking. I still use Canon as the standard for comparison for subcompact cameras.
Pros: This camera is compact, easy to take on vacations, etc. Pictures are good, except for quick shots like sports (it often doesn't focus in time). The movie feature is fun with the kids.
Cons: The "black spot" showed up on our camera a couple days ago - the 1 year warranty expired today. It's not totally black, kind of grey. It's not as noticeable in outdoor shots where there is more going on in the background.
Summary: navigating thru the menu proved to be difficult to understand. The instruction booklet is even worse. There is no eye view finder and it is difficult to see the object of focus in bright light.
Summary: My husband bought this camera in order to replace my 2 year-old Sony Cybershot that I have been using with a broken LCD screen for the past 8 months. However, I was so dissapointed because it has no video shooting option, as my old cybershot had..... I have an hyperactive crazy little dog that I love to catch on photos and videos and I cant do it with my new camera...Hopefully, Panasonic will add this feature in future models...
Small, full featured, but better at lower resolution.

Summary: This camera works better in 5mp then it does at 10mp.At 10mp pics loose some of their color contrast and sharpness and adds grain. my 8mp Kodak p880, 5mp Kodak z730, and 6mp Sony dsc-s600 all produce better pics, but this one is smaller and makes better videos.10mp is a gimmic, its really optimized for 5mp.
Summary: I use this camera for on the go shooting-family events and travel. The camera works pretty good on intelligent mode. Almost dead on with exposure and such. I wish it had fill flash and an easy way to know what your exposure is and change the shutter speed quickly.
A little confusing to use but that could be my fault

Summary: I've owned this camera for just about a month now after dropping my beloved and four-year old Sony Cybershot into the ocean. I debated buying another Cybershot (it would be my third) but decided to go in for a little variety instead. My Cybershot sported a Zeiss lens (i'm a former film photography enthusiast).
Summary: THIS CAMERA IS A BIG DISSAPOINTMENT AFTER READING ALL THE REVIEWS, IT IS NOT VERY USER FRIENDLY THE INSTRUCTION BOOK IS VERY POOR MY MAIN GRIPE IS THE AKWARD WAY IN WHICH TO HAVE THE DATE PRINTED YOU HAVE DO THIS AFTER YOU TAKE EACH PHOTO BY SCROLLING THRU. THE MENUS AND THEN USING WHAT THEY CALL DATE STAMP IF THIS IS NOT BAD ENOUGH DOING THIS RESIZES THE PITCURE TO 0.3 MB WITH DETERIORATION OF THE IMAGE ALSO TAKES UP MEMORY AS YOU NOW HAVE 2 IMAGES.WHEN TAKING PHOTOS...
