"Great as a camera - horrible physical design & mounts."

Pros: The video it takes is the same quality as Contour. Unlike the others it comes with a built-in LCD screen on the back, and is waterproof. I found it for $20 less than the cheapest Contour CAM which came with no mounts or LCD, and was not waterproof.
Cons: Terrible mounting system and inconvenient bulky shape, the helmet mount is a ridiculous rubber band that places the camera so far out that leverage makes it wobble and feel very heavy. Also the menus annoying key-press bleeps can't be turned off.
Summary: I just received this camera from Amazon today, and i was so excited. I bought this camera for my track day. I also bought Delkin suction cup mount for my it. So i have i got it out of the box, I immediately want to put in on my car to test out the video recording with in the car. While i was putting the camera on to the mount, the place where you screw in to the mount broke off. It was so fragile because of the material they used.
Summary: I'll make it short: pro: - the display is awesome to control your recording angle and review taken shots. I don't know how Go Pro users manage to get along without it... - the controls are easy to reach and the remote control is even better. :) - image quality in the sun is really nice - inexpensive (at least in Germany) in comparison to the Go Pro con: - the mounts are wobbly and fragile.
Summary: Executive summary: the video and stills quality is good; the beast seems relatively rugged; the mount design (or execution?) is flawed; the software is NOT available for the Mac, so the GPS module is useless to Mac people. In the order that the rating attributes were listed - BATTERY LIFE: seems ok. You need to be extra careful that the cable is _fully_ seated in the camera's socket. It will partially engage and _seem_ to be doing something when it's not.
Summary: I like the concept and the features list is pretty good: 1) LCD included as standard 2) Waterproof standard 3) Nice big buttons for control What I don't like: 1) My unit didn't work properly - would record, but would shut down and lock up as soon as I connected the USB or HDMI cable. Oregon Scientific authorized an RMA, but other issues I'll list convinced me to return rather than replace 2) Difficult to tell if its recording or not.
If I ever get all the update software downloaded, ...

Summary: maybe some pictures will happen. My tax software has fewer and shorter download requirements. You'll need to just set aside a morning or evening to corral the ancillaries required to update the apparent beta grade, as shipped, config to a works for me standard. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised. Over the last decade this has become the customer support profile for Hong Kong [Oregon] Scientific.
