Still waiting for a chapstick sized cam that has a USB tether to cam
6 May 2013
Summary: Overall it does the job. I thought it would be a bit smaller but it works well considering the size of screen to playback. It will adjust to the direct sun just takes a second or 3. I like that it has two settings for sound so you can lower loud noise situations. Even though the remote doesn't work (bought it used) the button to record is easy to find with gloves on. I love that it runs on AA batteries.
Summary: This model is still reasonably priced and fixed the major issues of the previous versions (accidental card removal, trashing the data and often the card) and not seeing the viewing area. The one big outstyanding issue is the small amount of internal memory. If you use theis for a long duration, the 50 seconds of internal memory is more of a hinderance when repalcing batteries, etc. Why bother ?
Summary: I bought this to replace my ATC 2K that wore out after 4 years of use (rubber deterioration and some mechanism breakage). This model is obviously an improvement based on lessons learned from the ATC 2K. The menu options on the 5 are easier to manipulate because of the video screen. There are fewer video format options one the 5, but I am fine with a binary 'big' or 'small' choice. The battery hatch securing on the 2 eventually broke.
Summary: I bought this camera to use while paragliding. I haven't had the opportunity to use it that way yet, but have had time to fiddle with it and see what it can do. It is very well designed. It's compact, rugged and very durable. As the other's have said the resolution isn't the highest, but it's not bad at all. I was amazed at how well it adjusts to different lighting conditions.
Summary: I am a police officer and I use this camera when interviewing people. I was initially disappointed with the sound quality, but found the video and capacity with the 2gig card excellent. The problem with the sound is the waterproofing. If you are not going to be using it in water or wet environments all you have to do is remove the mic cover and there is a black square rubber cover over the mic. It is 1mm or thicker and causes the sound distortion and lack of range.
Summary: After reading a number of the negative customer reviews, I felt compelled to add some positive light to this camera given my overall positive experience. I've been using the camera in the pool to film my swim stroke underwater and also out in the ocean when I paddleboard. The positives: - the 1.5 color screen is great for instant playback (ie- I dont have to wait until I get home to watch the footage, also i can make sure im getting the right camera angle instantly) -...
