Still waiting for a chapstick sized cam that has a USB tether to cam
6 May 2013
Summary: Overall it does the job. I thought it would be a bit smaller but it works well considering the size of screen to playback. It will adjust to the direct sun just takes a second or 3. I like that it has two settings for sound so you can lower loud noise situations. Even though the remote doesn't work (bought it used) the button to record is easy to find with gloves on. I love that it runs on AA batteries.
Summary: This thing is good starter camera if you don't plan to use a lot of action shots. Battery life is pretty short, the sound is really bad, and visual quality is under par. I took it to the lake with my girlfriend and tried going underwater with it. There is a terrible sound that it makes when you go from above to below water. I almost thought I broke my speakers. It was real quiet ...then BOOM! Then back to quiet again.
Summary: One star is more than I wanted to give! The product: the sound was bad which can be expected. The quality of the film was ok. The real problem came when I took it out in the ocean on a less than harsh day and the thing fell off its harness. Just fell off into the ocean. I emailed Oregon scientific (many times) to see if they would rectify this situation i explained to them that I had 2 people who could verify that I checked it and they basically said they could care less...
Summary: This model is still reasonably priced and fixed the major issues of the previous versions (accidental card removal, trashing the data and often the card) and not seeing the viewing area. The one big outstyanding issue is the small amount of internal memory. If you use theis for a long duration, the 50 seconds of internal memory is more of a hinderance when repalcing batteries, etc. Why bother ?
Summary: Pros: If you're just looking for something for the kids I guess it's ok. This is a camera you'd give your kids and say have fun, it is a poor quality camera but it works. Cons: I paid a little under a $100. and feel it's worth less. Seller: Was quick on delivery.
Summary: I bought this to replace my ATC 2K that wore out after 4 years of use (rubber deterioration and some mechanism breakage). This model is obviously an improvement based on lessons learned from the ATC 2K. The menu options on the 5 are easier to manipulate because of the video screen. There are fewer video format options one the 5, but I am fine with a binary 'big' or 'small' choice. The battery hatch securing on the 2 eventually broke.
Summary: this cam is so easy and simple to use and if you cant then a box of rocks is smarter . the buttons are kinda stiff but its watter proof up to 10 ft so it has to be that way . 4 GB card will give you 2 hrs of record time . its simple to hook up to your computer and put up on you tube if you wish .fast shipping from the seller .ok now after useing this for 3x's now it will NOT EVEN POWER UP I filed a dispute w/amazon about this prob.
