Summary: I've always loved photography, and with my XZ-1 I enjoy shooting photos even more! Definitely the best compact camera among all I've had. Before purchasing this I always carried my digital SLR wherever I go for vacation, but now this is my primary camera. My favorite part is the art filter, which makes my vacation x10 more fun! Olympus customer service was also very helpful.
Summary: This camera is great for this price range. It's compact but delivers great pictures. The lens are very bright, with F1.8 apperture. That makes a great camera for night photos even without flash. It's easy and simple to use. I also use with under water housing when i'm scuba diving. The pics are amazing. So much better when I compare with the Olympus Tough. I own a Canon 650D but now, with the XZ-1 I normally leave my Canon at home on my scuba trips.
Summary: I have had this camera for 2 years, and it awesome. I think the best thing I can do to show you how well this camera works is to show you my gallery of photos. Hopefully amazon permits this: [...] It can do things a DSLR cant, like High Speed Sync Flash to fill in shadows on backlit subjects. I do recommend getting the screw on flip open lens cap. The lens on this camera is really where the money is made.
Summary: Fantastic low-light pics. The f1.8 lens comes in handy. I often just opt to go without flash. It also shoots RAW. I have to say, since I got this camera, I usually leave my big Nikon DSLR at home (for indoor/family get togethers). Don't get me wrong, It's no DSLR, but a very capable alternative when you don't want to lug around the big camera bag. I also love the flexibility of Aperture/shutter priority modes.
Excerpt: I own it since it came out. Took thousands of pictures from subarctic to subtropics. It never disappoint you, either quality or overall mechanical soundness! As a backup I am using e620 with the multiple lenses, although, XZ1 has been used most of the time. I think the quality of the video should be a bit higher, nonetheless in the full light it creates half decent .avi format video clips.
Summary: I'm a high-end hobby photographer that normally shoots a Canon 60D or an Olympus PEN EPL-2. I enjoy shooting with the PEN but its still not quite small enough to pocket in most cases. I've been struggling to find a pocket sized digital camera I "liked" and was happy with the image quality. A dozen pocket cameras over ten years and I've never been happy with the consistency or controls on any of them.
Summary: There have been lots of reviews written and most are very good. The real story is if you won't pick it up or enjoy using it who cares about the camera? My wife hates my full side system camera unless it has a zoom on it and only then in iA mode. I tried no less than 3 cameras for her from Panasonic LX and Canon S series, she didn't,t like menu diving for features like macro or low light scene modes etc. on a whim I bought the XZ-1 from Amazon warehouse and she loves it.
This is definitely the best choice when it comes to compacts.

Summary: Bought and XZ-1 a week ago. Am absolutely delighted. It is a wonderful camera that fits in my shirt pocket. Picture quality is excellent (try Natural mode, Contrast +1, Sharpness +1), ISO 100. For instant grab shots I use Aperture mode at f/4… sharp from 2’ to infinity. Took a picture of an airliner coming in, right overhead, got two sharp images real fast, there’s almost zero shutter lag time.
