Summary: I purchased this camera as a gift. It has been in use for about 7 months and no longer works. It was not dropped or abused in any way. I don't think this is a sufficient lifespan for a camera! Amazon will allow me to return for a refund but as I got this camera for a great price during holiday sales I will be unable to buy a new camera at this time of year for a similar price.
Summary: I wanted a small handheld camera that I could use for pictures and digital video. After a lot of research I decided to get this one. The camera took great pictures but I wanted a 10x zoom for video and you can't zoom while using the video feature which is why I bought this camera. I returned it after trying it! No where in the explanation of the item does it say that you can't zoom while recording a video.
Summary: My third Olympus, it arrived with a software "hiccup", but has worked well since that first day. If I can keep from dropping my Olympus cameras into the lake, this one may go on for a very long time! Editing: Oops...This VR-340 has acquired another software "hiccup". It's back to working, but my confidence level has plummeted!
Summary: I ordered this camera for our work place. We use it to tale photos of our patients ( if allowed ). After 1 week of use, the lens became loose, crooked and would not close. We were not easy on this camera, but it was not overly abused either.
Summary: I ordered this camera from electronics basket may 29th 2013. I read the reviews and it sounded like a great little camera. It arrived about 2 weeks later. When I charged it, it took over 48 hours. I went to use it a few days later and the charge was already gone. I thought I may have done something wrong, so I tried it again, same thing. Contacted Olympus they sent a new battery but the problem is still there. Not happy with the product.
Summary: My Nikon Coolpix broke after my dog decided to use it as a chew toy, so I received this one as a Christmas gift. This camera is definitely thicker than most other point and shoot digital cameras, so it makes it look a bit dated and feels bulky -- it's definitely not something I'd toss in my bag to take pictures during a girls night out. It also feels cheaper, which is the first thing I noticed when I opened it.
Excerpt: I chose this camera as a very happy owner of the old Olympus mju 800 bought in the far 2005. The result is that I returned back the camera to the shop after 1 day as I was so disappointed by the quality of the photos. The auto focus was slow, 80% of the photos were blurry, the sarpness not even comparable to my old camera pictures and the skin color always look white. The only positive thing was the nice lcd quality, but useless if the photos quality is not good.
Summary: Bought this after careful consideration as a "Carry in the Pocket" camera for everyday. Reviews sounded good but on receipt and running some test shots I was not impressed with the quality of the photos. Main issue was that they were just not sharp enough even allowing for the fact that this was less than £100.00. Overall feel and practicality was good but the image quality let it down. Surprising for Olympus to accept this standard.
