Summary: This camera has a lot of potential, however it also has a couple of major drawbacks. Pros: - Nice features like video/picture combination and 360 degree panorama - Good photos when lighting is sufficient - Decent battery life Cons: - Clicking/hammering sound in video playback. Reported to the manufacturer (Olympus) who responded that it is due to the auto-focus mechanism and the placement of the microphone.
Summary: I bought this camera primarily to have a solid, waterproof device to take fishing with me. It works well in that respect. But I'm not happy with the clarity of the digital zoom; the mechanical optics on my old Sony DSC1 are much more clear at full extension.
Summary: I like that it takes pictures underwater, which is totally awesome, but it makes bad choices with white balance and contrast and such. I realize that there are many settings, but none of them does a particularly good job. I also haven't figured out how to control the shutter speed except putting it on sports mode which puts it at 1/500, which is faster that what I normally need, but on other settings, it decides for me, and picks for instance 1/30, which is too slow for...
Summary: Is anyone having a problem taking multiple pictures due to the trigger button on the camera being recessed? Is this the way it is supposed to be? The camera seems to be delayed when taking multiple pictures. I keep pressing the recessed button to see how many shots I can take and I am testing this camera out. I have an extreme memory card (SDHC at speed up to 80 mb/s)..... thought this would be helpful, but the camera itself may not operate as fast.
Summary: We purchased two of these (in different colors) -- one from Amazon, another one from Walmart. The wallyworld one already went back. They both have the same problem. The video (while very high quality) has an issue with the audio. There is a constant annoying hammering noise in the background of every video, especially when panning.
Summary: Bought this camera to take on a trip to Yellowstone National Park and other scenic locations out West. It performed well; however, the lack of a viewfinder was a problem as the LCD screen is easily washed out in bright sunlight. I was guessing on a lot of the pictures I took because with the sun at my back or to the side, the LCD screen was almost impossible to see.
Summary: When taking video there is a mechanical clicking noise from inside the camera. Once played back, the clicking noise can be heard throughout the entire video. When I called customer support, they were aware of the problem and said it will be fixed in later versions of the camera. That does not help me and then they expect me to ship it back to them, with me paying for the shipping.
Summary: I was really excited to get this camera but I'm having a lot of problems with the sun causing streaks across photos. Also, when there is bright sun in the background it tends to wash out the sky. Not sure if there is a way to fix this. I am guessing it has something to do with the chrome bezel and the lens not being very recessed. I'm hoping I can find a solution otherwise I will be reselling this and looking for a different camera.
