Summary: We have had an awful experience with this camera. It worked well for the first few months but the image quality was not as good and crisp as we had hoped. We purchased this mainly for the "Tough" feature and the water resistant qualities. After about 9 months it became totally non-functional, would not turn on. I contacted Olympus and returned it under warranty. The could not fix our red camera so they sent me a refurbsihed one.
Summary: I've had my Olympus TG-610 since it first came out in 2011, and it's still working just as well as the day I got it. I'm just an amateur photographer (mostly family/friend outings, and going on some pretty off-road adventures with my boyfriend), and would recommend this in a heartbeat to anyone out there who can relate. This is definitely a great family camera.
Summary: It takes great pictures and easy to use. I have now taken it to Maui 4 times and have gone snorkeling with it multiple times on each trip. I have never had any issues with it. I do make sure to clean it when I get back home with fresh water. The pictures taken underwater are really good is the sun is out. If there is a cloudy sky then the pictures are not as clear. I would purchase this camera again.
Summary: Yes the camera is tough. But the trade off is slow shutter speed. I knew this when it was bought but it seemed slower than I would expect. In the end we bought a cheaper and faster Canon at Target with an extended warranty. That ended up having a lens failure and Canon fully replaced it.
Summary: Have had this camera for a couple years now - it's durable (can't begin to tell you how many times I've dropped it) and takes great day time pictures. It's very cool to be able to take pictures underwater in a pool or at the beach. The quality of the pictures greatly decreases in low light, but honestly, it's not meant for that purpose. Get a different camera for that.
I would highly recommend this camera as an addition to any traveler’s arsenal.

Summary: I purchased this product in preparation for my honeymoon to Jamaica where we knew we would be spending a lot of time by the sand and water. Features - The camera has a lot of similar features you would find on any basic Point and Shoots but the waterproof and shock proof are what stand out. I tested it several times in normal conditions before we left and the picture quality was equal to other non-water proof cameras.
Summary: It is ok. It is VERY slow. It take 6 seconds to boot up and takes another 4 seconds after I take a picture. That is a pain hiking in the mountains - I liked my old olmpus much better. And once it got screwed up and did something horrible to the colors of a whole series of pictures. So I lost 30 mountain photos that I really wanted. But apart from that it works ok and takes pretty good pictures.
