Summary: I bought this to take with my on a cruise. It did perfectly through pools and ocean. Not only did it last for the cruise, but years later it remains water tight, and it's been on several houseboat trips, including being thrown off the side of the boat. BUT! It doesn't float, and I would highly recommend buying a float attachment for it. I bought a yellow Chums waterproof camera float and it works perfectly!
Summary: I chose this camera, because of its lower price, and I didn't know a thing about digital cameras. This camera is very good for the lower price, and its not hard to figure out how to use,for a first time digital camera owner, thats not too interested in figuring out how to use something. The battery life Is excellent, and its lightweight. I would buy another one.
Summary: My brother has a much fancier version of this camera which he takes great pictures with. So when last Christmas rolled around, and plans for Washington DC in the spring, this camera was an obvious choice for my two kids. The camera is fully automatic to fully manual with everything in between. It has lots of other features. I miss the viewfinder, but I am old school (D)SLR trained and experienced for years and years.
Summary: I have been using this camera for almost a year and I like it a lot. The resolution is great, more than you will need and the fact that it is very durable is a huge bonus! I have not used it underwater and not sure I ever will. I was debating about getting the model that it a little more expensive and is crushproof but this one has suited me just fine.
Summary: I got this camera to take to the beaches around Oahu and to do some snorkeling with it. As soon as I got the camera I took some pictures around the house to get familiar with it and learn all the different modes and settings. I took it to the beach and walked straight into the ocean with it! I took several scenery pictures and even tried out the panoramic mode.
Summary: I have become a die hard Olympus digital camera fan. I've used them underwater, either with housings in the old days, or now two types of these "tough Series" of cameras. This one was bought for the office to take pictures of events. Employees are not the most careful with company property, so having a camera which is dustproof, waterproof, can be dropped to the floor without harm, and can be stepped on without harm; gives me a lot of peace of mind.
