Summary: i bought this camera for a trip to mexico. it took amazing pictures, even underwater. it was not until after i got back home that when i used it again, i noticed a fog on the lens. i never had it in water after my trip. all of my trip pictures turned out fantastic though. i would still buy another one of these cameras. maybe it was just a lemon.
Summary: Bought this for my grandson, who was going to Canada with a group for 10 days. He was 12. He promptly lost the charger so was unable to use it for most of the trip. The picture quality is good;however, am I the only one that expects an owner's manual in the box instead of a link to download and print it in tiny tiny fonts in the middle of a sheet of paper? Tons of paper, which he doesn't bother to read because it's too much work.
Summary: I bought this camera to take on vacation to Jamaica two weeks ago. The picture quality is surprisingly nice, even underwater it's crystal clear. Besides that, it took about 30 seconds to get the camera to turn on each time I wanted to use it, which is a pain and causes a lot of missed picture opportunities, especially when snorkeling and fish are swimming by.
Summary: UPDATE 9/29/12: Olympus did replace the camera. I notice the new one delivers a much firmer "click" when closed and latched, so perhaps the hinge was loose on the first one. The replacement camera also came with a sheet of specific tips for keeping it watertight (oddly, not from Olympus themselves, but from a private person's website). I will add this bit of advice: if you are going to camp out in a damp, warm environment, bring a bag of rice.
Summary: I just bought the camera about a week ago. The screen has a dashed line near the bottom. I cant seem to to get rid of it. It works fine otherwise. The battery life seems quite short. I can only take about 75 pictures before it is out.
Summary: I bought this camera for two specific reasons. First, I have owned an Olympus FE-280 for a long time and taken well over 50,000 pictures with it. Until recently, I've never had a problem with that camera, and even now it's still excellent 90% of the time. The FE-280 was left out in the rain once, and washed in the washing machine after being left in a pocket, and both times it came out with no damage.
Summary: I bought this camera for use outdoors and under rugged conditions. The camera is light weight and takes excellent sharp photos outdoors. The zoom feature leaves a little to be desired. I am having a little bit of a problem taking photos at night where there is a light in the background. The indoor pictures have bit of noise. But overall for the price the camera is a good deal.
Excerpt: I saw this camera in the store and I said to my mum "this is the one. I want that one. It's perfect". As a teenager I go out to parties and to the beach. I'm sure those are two main places that cameras get broken. MINE WONT THOUGH! I love that I don't have to worry about dropping it, or spilling something on it. I had my friends over for a pool party and they look hundreds of photo's underwater.
Pros: Great settings, perfect for teenagers because it is so durable .
