Summary: This camera is very nice; takes great pictures and is fairly simple to use. I love the dog/cat picture option, the panoramic mode, and the low light feature. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone. I purchased an extra battery so that I always had one fully charged, but so far I haven't needed it.
Summary: A compact and fairly easy to use camera. A prime reason for my purchase was the wide zoom range. I am disappointed that the image stabilization is not as good as I expected. Perhaps I was expecting too much.
Summary: #1 Image quality is same as 10MP camera (same standard sensor size), but larger and file size is 5MB+. #2 Camera is best at taking pictures of small items rather then large (if you want to achieve blurry background) #3 Shutter speed is automatic and does not always shoot fast or slow enough for you to take great pictures. #4 Battery does not stay locked. Once you shake the camera and open battery lid, it falls off because it gets unlocked.
Summary: After researching for a couple of months I finally chose the Olympus SZ30 over the Sony HX9, Casio ZR100, Samsung WB750 and Fuji F600. I've had the camera for a month and I'm pretty impressed with the overall performance. It's definitely the most beautiful camera I've ever had amongst about a dozen models from Ricoh (Caplio R4, R5 and R6), Canon (SD200, SD650), Panasonic (FZ8, FZ28, FZ45), Sony (HX5). Build quality is very good. The menus are pretty intuitive.

It´s definitely the most beautiful camera I´ve ever had amongst about a dozen models from Ricoh, Canon, Panasonic, Sony and Olympus. Build quality is very good. The menus are pretty intuitive. The speed is good. Picture quality is very good most times as far as small sensors are concerned. Video is smooth. The filters are fun to use. Flash is excellent, open it when needed.
Excerpt: My first review was luke-warm on the grounds of mode dial placement and in-camera processing. Over the last month I produced my amateur radio newsletter pictures with it - and other than cropping I had to do no post-processing. The photo-copied versions reproduced well. The appearance of artifacts in originals becomes less and less - could it be due to solderflux now boiling off? There is also less focus-hunting now at long focal length.
Excerpt: My wife uses this camera all the time and although she is not a keen photographer she has taken some great shots, the main advantage of this camera is the unbelievable 24X zoom range. The ergonomics are great it has a hand grip better than most compact zooms and handles really well. The start up time contrary to some reports we have found to be no problem. Picture quality is good, autofocus good, low light performance is excellent.
