Summary: I love that this camera is waterproof. I've taken it on a cruise with me, to water parks, white water rafting, boating, in the lake, in the pool, even when it might rain. I've also brought it places where I know it might get dirty like a 'paint 5K' because I knew I could wash it after. This is great for those kinds of use. It takes half decent pictures but it has a hard time in bright light and darkness.
Summary: Saw some concerns about this Camera when I bought it. I've used it for a couple of years now while kayaking. Have carried it attached to my PFD. So it has gotten banged around some. Been under water with me more than I want to admit. Has seen chlorine pool action while practicing. I'll keep using this one till it dies and then look at whichever model they have on the market that replaces it.
Excerpt: First let me say I am a Canon girl. I love my Canons. This was a Christmas present. I needed a camera that I could take to the pool or the beach and not worry about. So it suits that purpose great! Now I'm just waiting on pool season to really test out the underwater capability!! Style-wise I love it! I have the gorgeous red color! The screen on back is huge! The menus and zoom buttons are easily accessible and pretty standard (super easy to use).
Excerpt: I have small children and live out of state from our families so I need a camera to take many different pictures. This camera takes wonderful pictures in a pool. They are clear and great quality. Night, snow and beach and action shots turn out great. You can purchase a flotation strap to put on it if you are at a lake or a really deep pool. That is a relief so you don't have to worry about losing it. It takes great videos with sound.
Summary: I bought this camera because I wanted one that I can take with me regardless of what I'll be doing. I've been able to go to the beach, rainforest, under waterfalls, as well as in the city when it's raining and I don't want to risk my DSLR. It's a great adventure camera, but the pictures are not as great when there is low light. The photos are great in bright daylight, but not so much in other situations. Definitely not what I would use for indoor photographs.
Summary: I bought this camera just for Kayaking. It takes quality photos and is very simple to use. It does have limited range in distance which is a little disappointing. Overall it a good value but it will not be my final water camera. I need more zoom distance for all the scenic views. Had my first spill in the Kayak and the camera did not pass the test of being water proof. I will be contacting Olympus "I'm still in the 90 day limited warranty time frame.
Summary: Does what it's built to do. I bought this camera to take on a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. our itenerary included lots of hiking, kayaking and just outdoor activities in general. Therefore I wanted a cemera that would take decent pictures for the areas I wasn't comfortable carrying my wifes expensive (and more fragile) Nikon. Here's the pro's: 1) It's Durable: Well Duh! It's made to be a durable camera.
Summary: Overall this camera is made to be tough and take decent pictures. There are some aspects that aren't great, but overall it works well. I use it as a field camera (I have a larger digital SLR, but when I'm out in the field, I don't like to carry it). I bought it because it was tough and waterproof--both very nice features for me. In that respect, it worked very well. I have dropped it and taken pictures in the rain, and it works like a charm.
Summary: I was attracted to this camera because it has waterproof and shock proof. I got this for my daughter and takes video of her in the swimming lesson. The videos are very useful for stroke correction. The shock proof feature is also useful for children as they tend to drop whatever they hold. With the 6020 I can be sure the camera would come back working after going field trip. After using this green 6020 for a month, I bought another blue 6020 for my son.
Summary: I bought this camera for my daughter in California and thought the underwater option was a positive. Well, I've seen the results and they are fabulous!!!She was a little leery of taking that first underwater shot (!) but has taken some fantastic pictures. So glad I bought it for her and based on what she says, I rate it highly and I'm glad I bought it for her!
