great camera, for its day
18 November 2014
Summary: great camera, for its day. the tough series of cameras are great to follow. with all the smaller updates and most importantly the MP getting better and better. this is still a good option if you are trying to buy an older edition to save some money. but the pictures will indeed be more grainy, and have less or a zoom option. but I can attest to swimming with it and skiing in cold temperatures. it lasted.
Good Workhorse of a Camera, Tough, Light, Good Picture Taker for Closeups
10 October 2014
Summary: This camera, along with the Olympus Stylus Tough 6000, 8000, and 8010, are good, workhorse, cameras that produce good quality closeups and medium range pictures. They are tough, waterproof, and don't suffer from the notorious Canon lens failure symptom. I got it to replace a Canon that I babied and it refused to extend the lens. Not a problem with the Olympus since the lens is completely encased in the rugged body.
Great Camera, Perfect for High Quality Vacation Snapshots
13 July 2014
Summary: I am surprised by some of the negative reviews of this camera. I have a suggestion to those reviewers: READ THE MANUAL! One common complaint - slow start-up time - can be easily fixed by following directions in the manual: Turn "PW on Start-up" to off, this will keep the camera from loading the logo and the camera is immediately ready for use. Another common complaint is the time it takes in order to shoot the next picture.
Summary: It's a very poor camera. It takes forever to wait until you can take the next photo. For the price is a nothing! After the first month we just put it inside a a box in the basement. I will like to return it!
Summary: I have owned this camera for years. It goes everywhere with me. It has been rained on, snowed on, left in the freezing temps, dropped to the ground, all kinds of abuse. It just keeps working. It still has the original battery. I use it at wok and at home. I have left it the car's glove box in summer and winter temps. It just keeps on working. You can't beat this with a stick. Best camera I have ever bought. The picture quality is very good and the video is good also.
Summary: I am 6' 6" tall and weigh over 250 lbs. and am pretty clumsy. I destroy most things. . . Not because I want to, because things just aren't made to hold up to me. This Camera IS : ) AND, it takes very good pics. I take it with me EVERYWHERE. I have dropped it and kicked it and bounced it across parking lots and on the beach and down the stairs. I have left it in my car in the dead of summer and the dead of winter. If you want or NEED a "tough" camera...
Summary: The first day I bought the camera it worked really well. We loved the fact that we can be in the water at the pool/beach/water park and take pictures and not worry about water damaging the camera. The pictures looked great, until we used it for recording. I wasn't able to hear sound from the video. This was the second day using the camera. I let the camera dry out and did not use it for a few days to see if it would eventually work, and unfortunately it did not.
