Summary: I purchased this camera after reading a ton of reviews (and after buying and returning a Sony DSLR and a Canon point and shoot). My previous camera worked great but while at the beach with my toddler it got sand in the zoom lens and stopped working. I decided to use this opportunity to buy a camera that would take exceptional pictures so I tried out a DSLR and a really nice Canon.
Summary: I usually use the disposable water cameras and have been very disappointed in the horrible and dark photos that I would receive....lots of memories were lost. This time I made the purchase and I'm glad I did! I used it in the pool and on the water slides on our trip to the Bahamas. I even used the video feature a few times as we were on the lazy river and on the waterslides! Turned out great! Good flash, clear pictures...
Summary: This is much nicer when you see it, Amazon pictures never do anything justice. It is shiny, dark shades of 2 tone red, and semi compact. Meaning larger then nikon s3000, but smaller then L 22. Also too large to fit in my compact case. Battery charges quickly, about 45 minutes. I can take about 100 pictures before the battery dies. Not bad. A heavy, sturdy battery cover with a lock, got to love that.
Pros: It takes above average pictures in or out of the water. It's videos are better than I thought they'd be. I used it on the beach in Coasta Maya and Cozumel, in and out of the pools, and on zip lines. All with no problems.
Cons: The documentations is sparse, and there's no view finder. For it's size and price (169.00US), a view finder is not expected.
Summary: I'll be honest, I haven't used any of the special features on this camera yet. I bought it for my honeymoon and fully intend on taking it snorkeling and such. For right now, I'm happy to have a camera I'm not in constant fear is going to break. It's very liberating to not worry if it gets wet or dropped. That alone is worth the price to me. The pictures turn out great and there's a lot of neat photo options like panoramic or fish eye.
