Good for some things, but not for others

Jack, Amazon
6 October 2011
  • Summary: I bought this camera and used it on several kayaking trips where it got SLIGHTLY wet and the camera functioned just fine. However, I just took it underwater for the first time while snorkeling and it leaked into every area (i.e. battery and memory card slots, plug in port, etc) and quit working.

Not worth it

H. Glenn, Amazon
28 September 2009
  • Summary: I spend a lot of time with my family at the beach/pool, so I figured this would be a good option. Nope. After two times underwater it stopped working. I wasn't able to see the pictures or download them.

Was great until it leaked (twice)

27 August 2009
  • Summary: I have had THREE of these cameras. The first one I broke due to leaving in a hydraulic lift and smashing the LCD (my fault-no fault of the camera). Surprisingly, the fine folks at Olympus repaired it for free.

really indestructible but gives me blurry shots

Busy Mom of Two, Amazon
12 August 2009
  • Summary: I bought this camera out of desperation, as my toddler has broken 2 canon cameras.... but canon cameras give way better picture quality. i have had this olympus camera now for almost 2 years, and it really is great for the beach, by the pool, or when the toddler-now-5-year old wants to take a...

Great for underwater shots, but poor quality otherwise

Alexander Shenkin, Amazon
25 May 2008
  • Summary: I bought this camera because I work in tropical areas, and having a camera put up with an inundation occasionally is a handy feature. However, I now would love to return this one and get a camera that takes good quality pictures.

Don't make my mistake!

Josh T. Nite, Amazon

  • Summary: I bought this camera after a 5-foot drop killed my wonderful Casio Exilim. I got it precisely because it is rugged and waterproof, and figured that was worth the extra money. And it is - if you don't mind the TERRIBLE PICTURE QUALITY. The Casio excelled at taking pictures in low light.

It's not a good camera

Denis Page, Amazon
2 March 2008
  • Summary: I've bought this camera to use in my trips. The huge problem is: There is no manual settings in this camera. You have to use or the auto shoot (terrible in many situations) or scene mode. Scene mode works well enough in some scenarios, but it's terrible with low light.

No View finder a big problem

Lisa Corley "BSA Mom", Amazon
27 February 2008
  • Summary: I bought the camera for backpacking because it was waterproof and small. I didn't think that the lack of a viewfinder would make the camera impossible to use on a sunny day. I took it to Death Valley with me and outside in the sun I had to guess at the shots I was taking because I couldn't tell by...

Ok camera, best part is that it's waterproof.

Jeffrey Thurman "IT Geek", Amazon
24 February 2008
  • Summary: Bought it for my girlfriend for a snowboarding trip we were going on. It takes "ok" pictures. The auto focus seems to be working overtime, so I changed it from face detection for her to spot detection, that way it only focuses when you press the shutter halfway.
