Summary: This camera lasted about 5 minutes before it stopped working. It was submerged only briefly on and off during that time. Then the lens fogged up and it only took blurry pictures. Then, a few minutes later it stopped working all together. It wouldn't turn on at all. I tried charging the battery, but so far nothing seems to make it work.
Summary: I bought this camera in 2007. Used it very little(less than 100 photos). I took it on a fall hiking trip and it worked at first then started taking photos that looked like a sheer white curtain was in front of the lens. After a long conversation with the repair dept. at Olympus they said I should send it in to be repaired. Several days later they contacted me and said it would cost $155.00 to fix it!
Summary: This camera ruins any social event you would like to capture. I bought this camera hoping it was the solution to every problem I have ever had in my life. The problem with this camera is that it falls out of my pocket seemingly everytime I move my leg...walking, sitting or laying down. You would think olympus would consider this seeing as how much you have to spend on the camera.
Summary: The 790SW I bought died just 3 times upon contact with water. Water got onto screen and the battery compartment. Call customer service, sent it (guaranty expires in 1 year). They told me that you have to send the camera for service every year (no were to be seen in owners manual) The repair was $250. The cost was $300 so I did not want to do the repair. I do not recommend this camera and the service.
Summary: This is the worst camera I have ever owned by far. Every single on of the photos it took on holiday are blurry, over exposed or grainy. I have used cameras for many years and will never buy this brand again. Do not buy into the gimmicks about shock proof, just get a camera and look after it. If it is going to break it is going to break. These strong cameras just muck up picture quality and that's it.
Summary: This camera failed underwater the first time I tried to use it. I was merely snorkeling on the surface, not free diving, and I only got two shots off before it jammed. After it dried it seemed ok and I never used it underwater again. Had it less than 2 years and just used it recently and it is malfuntioning again. Says the card cover is open when it clearly is not. Very frustrating when you are on vacation and can't take pictures because your camera is broken...again.
Summary: The 790SW I bought died almost immediately upon contact with the ocean. Water got into not only the battery compartment, but also seeped in under the viewing screen...all this from being no more than two feet underwater for about 20 minutes We didn't even have a chance to apply the rather elaborate post-immersion rinsing and cleaning instructions in the owners manual.
Summary: Olympus Stylus 790SW 7.1MP Waterproof Digital Camera with Dual Image Stabilized 3x Optical Zoom (Orange) Very disappointing camera. The lens is right where your finger needs to be to hold the camera well. You cannot shoot before a 2 second delay and having to press OK buttons. Overall poor ergonomic and software design (includes all the other 1 star issues mentioned: poor image quality, poor video quality, etc.).
Summary: I bought this camera because i was traveling to galapagos and i thought that this trip deserves a water proof camera. But at the third day that I sumerge the camera in to the sea it got water inside. The camara broke down and i couldnt take any more pic in my trip.
Summary: I bought this camera upon its release in 2007 and now after almost a year, I have some opinions. I'll try to keep it simple. XD card format: Going the way of the dinosaur. Finding decent priced cards is hard. Also, the XD format tops out at 2gb. Unaaceptable. This in itself is a deal breaker. I think any new camera purchase from 2008 on should be SD/SDHC compatible as it is seemingly the industry standard as well as the only mini/micro class card media to go up to 16gb.
