  • Conclusion: Whether you're in the pool, at the beach, or trudging across frozen tundra, the Stylus 770 is tough enough to take what you dish out.
  • Pros: Both waterproof and shockproof. Decent performance.
  • Cons: Confusing menus. Mediocre image and video quality. Pricey for an ultracompact.

Olympus 770 SW

Photoxels
21 May 2007
  • Summary: Not happy to sit on its laurel, Olympus has equipped its second generation SW digital camera, the Olympus Stylus 770 SW , with even more "toughness." We thought last year's Stylus 720 SW was built as tough as it gets -- but the Stylus 770 SW improves upon it with waterproof capability up to 10m (33 ft); in addition, it is now also crushproof and winterized. The body is, of course, still shock proof and can internally withstand a 5 foot fall.

Olympus Stylus 770 SW Review

Digitaltrends
1 May 2007
  • Conclusion: There is no digital camera available like the Olympus Stylus 770SW. None can take the beating this camera can. If you’re an outdoorsy type and are looking for an easy-to-carry camera to take along on your treks, this is the one. Folks who expect to be at the beach and near the surf should consider this one too—the screen really takes the sunlight well and you can drop it in the water and it’ll be fine—as long as you grab it before it hits 33 feet below the surface.
  • Pros: Toughbook tough; 7.1MP digicam
  • Cons: Slow response; few manual options; expensive

  • Summary: Designed specifically for a niche market, the Tough 770SW is an ideal camera for those into the rougher side of life. Its pictures aren't the best we've seen, but for some that isn't the primary concern when buying a camera, and for those people this model may be a good choice.
  • Pros: Basically everything proof, macro light for close up photography, good, noise performance at ISO 100
  • Cons: Some under sharpening issues, slow burst mode, slow shutter speed

Digital Camera Magazine

  • Summary: This genuinely tough and thoroughly usable Olympus Mju is well worth buying for its rugged build quality alone. The average image quality that it produces isn't too exciting - but the extreme nature of the photos that it enables you to take is. Well worth a tst run, dive, hike or jump.
