Summary: My son and I both bought Olympus so called waterproof cameras and both leaked within the first year. Mine started working again once it dried out so I cleaned the seals and went on holiday to Cuba. During the trip it leaked again and now it is dead. Google these cameras and you will see everyone is having problems with leaking. Junk, do not waste your money.
Summary: I ordered two of these for ourselves and some friends before we went to Mexico on a snorkeling and diving trip. Both were pieces of junk. The door to get into the battery/memory card area are impossible to open. We had to use a screwdriver to get it open and do that to many times and it will likely never close or never open again. They both leaked. One didn't hold a charge. When they did work, they took decent pictures. But they both failed as underwater cameras.
Summary: Olympus Stylus 550WP 10MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Black) I used to own the Olympus 720wp and it was one of the best underwater/versitile compact cameras I owned. When our house burned down 2 yrs ago I immediately replaced it and my choices were the 550wp or the stylus tough. I bought the Stylus Tough and was diappointed and returned it within 2 weeks, I ended up with the 550wp and this things just plain sucks!!
Summary: I bought this camera thinking I was getting a good underwater camera. The first time I used it I just took a few regular pictures at my house, nothing underwater. Then when I tried to get the pictures to download to my computer the camera froze up. It kept saying "unplug the USB cable' I unplugged the cable but nothing happened. I have tried everything to get my camera to work.
Summary: I ordered this camera as a gift for my little sister before her vacation. I got the camera fast! -- We opened the box to get things rolling and test out the camera. Come to find out the battery door on the camera would not open. I called the company twice, and left messages both times. I also emailed the company and got no reply. I was simply asking for instructions to return or even exchange the camera. No response.
Summary: This so called waterproof camera lasted a little over a year, which conveniently is right after its warranty period... and with a few splashes of water became filled with water. I called the repair center and for $75 they will repair it.. This camera was NOT cheap and I think it should have lasted more than it did and I dont find the qquality of its pictures to be worth spending another chunk of $ on it.. I will never buy another Olympus again!
Summary: will post pictures later. We have had only for six months. I have made sure all ports are secure. We got water in the camera. Not sure how water got in the camera since it is suppose to be waterproof. And the warrenty does not cover water damage? This was our first Olympus camera going to stick with canon and nikon.
Summary: First time we took this camera in the water it quite working. Have a pentax optio wp for five years that has been in the ocean several times works like a charm wasted money on the olympus buy PENTAX OPTIO if you want it to do what it supposed to.
Summary: I bought this camera for a trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and I took some Ok photos but then I took 2 photos underwater in a pool (2 feet)and the camera stopped working, I opened the battery door and it was all full of water... I'll never buy Olympus again!!!
