Summary: Received this camera as a gift and have had trouble with it from day one. It has a lot of nifty settings, but if you just want a simple point and shoot camera and don't want the hassle of figuring out how to operate it, pass on the Olympus SP 800uz. There is no guarantee the picture taken will look even remotely like what is photographed. Not that it isn't slightly different, it is radically different - with a yellow cast to it.
Summary: I read the many reviews here on Amazon, and having found a great price, I bought one. Wish I had saved my money. Yes, it does have a long range zoom, but for me, the camera is hard to hold and shakes. My 12 year old had a little better luck with the zoom, but admitted she was tired of getting too many bad shots. I have owned a Panasonic/Lumix for years and love it! I have had alot of compliments on the quality of my photos, I do not see the quality with the Olympus.
really slow auto focus, poor pics especially zoomed

Summary: I bought an Olympus SP-800UZ after reading the reviews befor they came out in the stores (I wish I had waited) I gave mine to my daughter (only because she needed one) and I didn't care if she lost it or it got damaged as I found the camera to be very poor on all its functions, Even the settings config is terrible i/s bad battery life poor , no eye focus which is needed espec.
Pros: It is a cheap camera, light weight
Cons: multi pics are not going to happen auto focus is especially slow on zoomed in pics and picture quality is not that good
Not the best camera in it's field. Customer support not good.

Summary: There are no manual modes for either exposure or focus. Sometimes you can trick the camera into the right exposure by selecting one of the various program options or scene modes, but there is no way to convince it to focus properly when it chooses not to. I have a bird feeder on my front porch. In low light, (like dusk), I can't get close enough to the feeder for the infrared light on the camera to help with focusing, (Birds fly away).
Summary: I was happy to see a camera with 30x zoom, but I could not accept the image quality. Amazon was very generous with their return policy, and I'm now a very happy owner of a Canon EOS 60D. I suggest you to compare camera sample images at [...] before choosing a camera.
Summary: I have purchased several cameras over the past year, and this is by far the worse camera I have ever bought. It may have 30x Wide Optical Zoom, but what good is that when it takes so long for it to focus and the pic caputred (after it take so long to focus) comes out blurry. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
Summary: I have this camera over one year. Why I bought especially this one? Zoom, 30x zoom for me was amazing, but is impossible to make photo because auto focus only no manual focus. Rubbish for me I rate one star only.
Summary: This camera is awful I purchased the Olympus SP 800UZ as a replacement for my Olympus SP-590UZ 26x Zoom camera after I accidentally scratched the lens. I thought this camera would be a upgrade due to the increased 30x zoom, I couldn't have been more wrong this camera is nothing compared to the SP-590UZ The zoom was irritatingly slow and even the amount of time it took to take a picture after you pressed the button meant this camera was unusable.
