Olympus SP-570UZ Digital Camera Review

Buy-n-Shoot.com
30 March 2009
  • Conclusion: A sticking point which some will either quickly like or dislike is the manual flash trigger. To use the flash it needs to be manually popped for it to function, even in auto mode. This may frustrate some users who forget to flick the switch and miss a shot. Sometimes you just want to turn the camera on and know that you can shoot immediately on auto mode and everything will be considered in camera by the camera without user involvement.

  • Conclusion: Olympus SP-570 UZ Megazoom digital camera Where the Megazoom camera proved good for 10x optical zoom a few years ago, the Olympus SP-570 UZ doubles this range. The compact size remained untouched and the amount of pixels increased, as expected. The concept is solid as a rock and has already proven its worth in practice. Still, we have to make a side note about the evolution the SP series of Olympus is undergoing.

Olympus SP-570 UZ Review

What Digital Camera
1 October 2008
  • Summary: The SP-570's decent EVF and good zoom ring help it to stand out from the others; however it lacks the finesse of the Nikon P80, particularly in terms of image quality. Overall it's a case of mixed blessings from Olympus.
  • Pros: Zoom ring, Raw support, long lens
  • Cons: Exposures too light, fringing, EVF not as good as others

8 August 2014
  • Conclusion: The Olympus SP-570 handles more like a Digital SLR than any other camera I have tested. I like the barrel twisting method of zoom. Add in a hot shoe, RAW mode and various manual controls and you have a very good camera for a photography enthusiast.
  • Pros: Looks good - build quality - handling - picture quality
  • Cons: Shutter delay could be faster

20x optical zoom camera with dual image stabilisation

Good Gear Guide.au
11 May 2009
  • Summary: Olympus' SP-570UZ continues the trend of its past ultra-zooms, offering an enticing package for users looking for a larger lens. It isn't perfect — at times it can be sluggish and the pictures have some minor issues — but on the whole it does a solid job.
  • Pros: 20x zoom, dual image stabilisation, 13.5fps burst mode
  • Cons: Some over-sharpening, full-resolution burst mode slow, electronic zoom fiddly for precise framing

Olympus SP-570 UZ review

PC Advisor
6 December 2008
  • Summary: Olympus' entry into the megazoom class delivers the greatest magnification rating of any camera we've seen. Using the Olympus SP-570 UZ at 20X, photos taken at a distance of up to 30ft from the subject looked as though the photographer had been right up close.
