The megazoom arena provides some stiff competition, though, but at its sub-$400 price point, the 565UZ represents good value for photographers who are on a budget. Read more

Super-zoom digicams have come into their own. Check out the ten-meg 565's specs: RAW shooting, exposure lock, built-in image stabilization to reduce image blur, a 20x zoom that stretches from 26mm to a ridiculous 520mm, to name just a few of its SLR-like capabilities. Over a week in Mexico, we shot everything from portraits to landscapes and surf-action shots. And while the results weren't quite as good as what we'd have gotten with a bevy of interchangeable lenses, they... Read more

We're pretty happy with the Olympus Stylus SP-565UZ. This underdog has clawed its way up in the Ultra Zoom pack with a great imaging performance, solid handling and oodles of manual controls and image features. For the advanced budget shooter or the novice looking to learn, the Stylus SP-565UZ is an excellent choice. And that's not because the Stylus SP-565UZ is capable of a 20x optical zoom range and has a zillion Scene modes. This camera is built like a tank, handles... Read more

Picture, if you will, a standard digital SLR with a sleek black body, protruding lens and a pop-up flash, and now shrink it. The SP-565UZ is a palm-sized, 10 mega pixel compact camera with a fixed, external auto focus 20 times (yes, 20 times) optical zoom lens and the ability to shoot up to 13.5 frames per second. Amazingly, it is capable of extending from 26mm wide angle to 520mm super telephoto, which is the... Read more

CENTER VALLEY, Pa., August 25, 2008 - Olympus has given the SP-570 UZ - the world's most powerful ultra zoom digital camera - an extreme makeover by creating the new SP-565 Ultra Zoom, a smaller and lighter version with the same amazing precision-crafted 20x wide-angle telephoto zoom lens (26-520mm equivalent), but the ease-of-use of a point-and-shoot camera. Photographers searching for an even more portable and approachable ultra zoom to take anywhere will rejoice in... Read more

This camera is versatile, fast, easy to use, not too heavy, and an all around good performer. I take photos of oddly lit subjects, fast moving subjects, of people, buildings, and i have thus far not found one thing about the camera that i don't like aside from the short lens cap strap. I may buy another lens cap so i can double the length & not have it so close to the body while i'm shooting video. It's really a pet peeve vs an issue with the camera. Image type and... Read more

This camera replaces the UZ-sp510 I bought just 3 years ago. My son wanted a camera, so it gave me a reason to go up a notch. It never let e down either. To see what an Olympus can do I have lots of pictures on google earth. Search "Beauty on the Sacramento River" and my name will show you all the great pictures this camera is capable of. Read more

Earlier review from Victor is incorrect, you can manually focus. It just doesn't have a focus ring, so manual focusing requires use of buttons on the back. As far as a bridge camera (between compact and full size SLR) I think this is the best bang for the buck. Read more

I have had this camera for about 6 months now and have taken about 3000 pics with it. For the wide range of options you have to chose from when taking a picture, this camera does a pretty good job. The zoom is substantial and the focus is good as long as the batteries are fresh. Battery life is super short (200 pics) and goes down substantially when using the high-power zoom. The autofocus also struggles to get the correct object in focus when the zoom is employed too.... Easy to learn and operate. good image quality, especially at 64 and 100 ISO. 200 and 400 are decent, and 800 is also decent for small prints. Solidly built, and logical menus. 26mm wide angle is awesome - there is a touch of distortion at full wide angle, but not a problem for nature and landscape photography. Small and compact, and excellent electronic viewfinder. Lots of options and customization. Read more
