Olympus SP-510 UZ

CNET
12 September 2014
  • Summary: The Olympus SP-510UZ is packed with cool features, but a not-so-wide lens, sluggish performance, and noisy images steal its fire.
  • Pros: Great body design; high-quality, fast lens; manual exposure controls.
  • Cons: No optical image stabilization; high noise at ISO 400 and above; lens not wide enough.

Olympus SP-510 UZ

PC Magazine
29 December 2007
  • Conclusion: The latest superzoom from Olympus provides welcome guidance in the field but needs buttressing in terms of quality and performance.
  • Pros: Great guide modes help you select appropriate settings and modes. Very good macro mode. Can shoot in RAW. Conveniently uses AA batteries.
  • Cons: Mediocre performance. Poor burst mode. Special xD cards required for highest video performance. A bit of shutter lag is noticeable.

Olympus SP-510UZ Review

Digitaltrends
30 October 2006
  • Conclusion: Unlike my last review when I had difficulty choosing between the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi and the Sony alpha , the conclusion for the SP-510UZ is much easier—don’t buy it. A quick search found this camera going for around $329 from a legit dealer while the much superior Canon PowerShot S3 IS was $354 at the same site. This is best $25 investment I’ve seen in a long while. The SP-510UZ is a big-time miss by Olympus.
  • Pros: 7.1MP resolution; 10x optical zoom; uses AA batteries
  • Cons: Feels cheap; has electronic image stabilization (not optical); sluggish performance

Tech2

  • Excerpt: If you've been a regular visitor at Tech2, you must have noticed the terrible reviews that the two budget Olympus digicams—the FE-170 and FE-180 have received from us. Now I know for a fact that Olympus is more than capable of producing some great digital cameras, so I assume they just faltered with the budget FE series.
