Olympus Stylus SH-50 Review

11 November 2013
  • Summary: Olympus SH-50’s main draw is its video functionality and the 5-axis image stabilisation which gives steady videos. But we wish we could say the same about the image quality. At an MRP of Rs 22,999, it is difficult to recommend the camera for its average image quality. Lack of Wi-Fi is another downer which is becoming a norm with travel zoom cameras these days, specially at a Rs 20k-plus price point.

Steve's Digicams
8 August 2013
  • Summary: In early 2013 Olympus announced the SH-50 iHS, "a new premium, compact long zoom camera" with a host of impressive features trickled down from their flagship Micro Four Thirds cameras (like the OM-D E-M5). They begin with an upgraded, 16-megapixel backside illuminated CMOS image sensor, mated to the TruePic VI Image Processor developed for the Olympus PEN series, and a 24x optical zoom lens with a 35mm equivalent of 25-600mm.
  • Pros: iAuto shooting mode is accurate and easy in all situations, Dedicated Video Capture Button is always ready to record, Image stabilization is more than enough to support the full 24x optical zoom, 24x optical zoom is incredibly versatile, Overall image quality is very good, 3.0-inch Touch LCD is easy to use and see, Excellent Video Quality and 5 axis stabilization, Outstanding performance, Very good battery life, Competitively priced
  • Cons: Camera can be hard to operate with 2 hands when flash is popped up, Some noise in all images / Normal with most 16-Megapixel image sensors, Flash is weak at low ISO levels, No external audio input

Review: Olympus Stylus SH-50 iHS

8 January 2014
  • Conclusion: After taking the XZ-10 out for a spin, the SH-50 comes across as a breath of fresh air. There is very little to complain about as far as features and ease of use is concerned, as it manages that quite well. However, the touchscreen continues to be a sour spot even now, and like all point and shoots this one also oversaturates colours, which is fine for sharing on the web.
  • Pros: Ultra Slow-mo video capture; Decent low-light shots; 24X optical zoom with IS.
  • Cons: Wi-Fi support only via Eye-Fi cards; Macro images lack detail; Over-saturtation of images.

Olympus Stylus SH-50 review

18 October 2013
  • Excerpt: We always like products that do something different, but we rate them for quality rather than novelty value. That's why it's a particular treat to find a camera that stands out from the crowd in ways that are genuinely useful, which the Olympus Stylus SH-50 does. The first thing to note is the enormous 24x zoom.

Expert Review

4 September 2013

Kamera til den rejsende

26 August 2013

4 August 2013
  • Summary: Ezúttal az Olympus zsebkompaktjainak, pontosabban utazózoom fényképezőgépeinek egyik elit képviselője, a 24x-es zoomátfogást, és gyors CMOS szenzort kínáló SH-50 járt nálunk.
  • Pros: Igényesen kivitelezett fémborítású váz, 24x-es optikai zoomátfogás apró géptestben, Optikai hibáktól jórészt mentes képek, 5 tengelyes (fotónál 3) stabilizátor, Érintőképernyő, Jó minőségű és nagyítású makró, Nagy érzékenységnél viszonylag kevés zaj, Gyorsmenü, Full HD videó, Külön videofelvételi gomb, Hi-speed videó módok, Videó közben is készíthetünk fényképet, Sztereó hangfelvétel, Szélzaj csökkentés, Gyors sorozatok, Mágikus szűrők (videónál is), Intelligens mozgó...
  • Cons: Erős zajszűrés és élesítés nyomja rá jegyét a képminőségre, Nem ártott volna több felvételi üzemmód (pl. záridő előválasztás), Csak ND szűrős rekeszelés, Időnként pontatlan élességállítás, Kevés érintőképernyős funkció, Ebben a kategóriában nem túl erős LCD, Erős tömörítésű, nagysebességű videók, Pontatlan és gyenge képminőségű mozgó panoráma mód
