Sharing the same sensor as the E-P1, the image quality of the E-P2 is unsurprisingly identical, at least when using the same shooting parameters. Read more

    • Compact body with DSLR-sized sensor., Built-in stabilisation which works with any lens., Accessory port and superb EVF supplied., HD movie mode and HDMI port.
    • Leisurely AF system and so-so face detection., No built-in flash and average resolution screen., Superb EVF adds considerably to cost., Newer E-PL1 a compelling alternative.

    • Compact, 12-megapixel camera with interchangeable lenses. Giant LCD screen. Great low-light performance, professional features including full manual control and RAW mode. That design is hot, son. Hot!
    • A good deal more expensive than the nearly identical E-P1. Costs about the same as a full-sized DSLR. LCD viewfinder is lower-resolution than the main LCD and is annoyingly laggy. Viewfinder also hogs flash hot-shoe.

Features

The E-P2 is a digital camera that supports a Micro Four Thirds lens and supports both capturing photo and HD movie. The camera has additional features from its predecessor, the EP1 such as a viewfinder and microphones, two additional Art Filters (Diorama and Cross Process), Colour-boosting i-Enhance function, AF tracking, Remote slideshow control (via HDMI) and supports HD movies in M-mode. The electronic viewfinder included with the E-P2 is tiltable by up to 90° emulating the mechanic of that of medium format camera viewfinders. The two new Art Filters that join the six already introduced by the E-P1 are the Diorama that lets users create the illusion of a model world and Cross Process, which lets them flip colours around. These two filters can also be used in still or HD movie mode. The i-Enhance function boosts specified colours within the frame, and users also have the choice of different aspect ratios and multiple exposures to use. Other features on the E-P2 include level gauge, i-Auto mode, and the e-Portrait option which touches up the appearance of subjects even while the shot is being taken. This feature recognises faces and automatically smoothes out imperfections on a portrait shot.
