5 Years and still taking pics

Summary: I've owned this camera for about 5 years now, it replaced a Sony Cyber-shot I dropped in sand in Hawaii. I wanted something durable, water/sand/drop/freeze proof and sure enough this camera has been dropped and banged repeatedly on rocks, been in the ocean/river/pool/waterfall, taken pictures in extreme hot and cold environments, taken video while zip-lining/jumped off a cliff into water/4 wheeling though mud, and it's still going strong.
Summary: i must say that the photo and video quality are very good but i am not satisfied with the scene selection speed, when it auto selects the scene and focus to program the shot, it's too slow (a second maybe) When you point to a movement shot it s an eternity. it's tough as said, strong case, silver finished. I used under water with no problem but i must say once i used in salt water, menu buttons began to loose their silver finishing turning into white.
Summary: I bought this for traveling. i wanted something I could take anywhere and this was perfect. I took it the beach with no problems in the water, out in cold temperatures and more. When I bought it was at a great price, its probably cheaper now which is even better. I did not want to spend too much money on one of these rugged cameras in case it got lost.
Summary: This was my second one of these cause I loved them so much! BUT...we used this for snorkeling in the ocean and it completely rusted out the screen. We even let it soak in fresh water after each dive as suggested.
Summary: Please see other review for accessories. I truly cannot say enough for this camera. It went to Afghanistan with the Marines, came back battered, but still working. It matched the claims made for it. If you really want a great camera that goes through sand, rain, ice, being thrown into a duffel bag with gear, etc., this is the one. The only thing it missed out on, was being shot.
Summary: Took this camera to Cozumel a few years ago. I'm not a professional or even experienced amateur when it comes to photography, particularly underwater photography. This camera was really easy to use. When snorkeling or in the pool, we used the camera without a separate underwater housing and found the images were very good. When we went scuba diving we used a plastic housing over the camera. We used an Ikelite housing, I think.
