Summary: I bought this for my daughter when she was in Afghanistan. She wanted something heavy duty. It did not hold up as promised. This was not cheap and did not hold up even for a year. The lens fogged over (it never got wet) She ended up throwing it away. It was not functional. Very disappointed.
Summary: It was great while it lasted. I made good use of it for about a little over a year. During that time, it took great pictures and was easy to use. Then pretty much right after the warranty expired, it leaked and broke.
Summary: purchased this camera about 5 years ago and still taking great pics. love that you are able to drop it, get it wet, basically it will take anything that you throw at it. able to use auto mode for picture taking or adjust and use manual mode. love the panorma setting. have taken soooooo many photos on this and keeps on going. fits in your pocket easily.... just got back from a long hiking/ camping trip and once again realize how great of a purchase it was.
Summary: Basically, Olympus has tried to cram too much into the Stylus Tough line. too many options, too many buttons for a sports camera, too many doors with leaky seals for underwater use. Controls are tiny and difficult if not impossible to use with gloves or cold hands. warranty requires sending the camera back to factory every year! (this not listed in warranty literature) My summary impression of this camera line is that it is a RIP-OFF!
Pros: small easy to carry, other than that is fairly useless, DO NOT USE UNDERWATER!!
Cons: Camera leaked first time under water, for a sports camera there are too many adjustments and controls, 657 last count. make quick shooting virtually impossible, especially under water. Use your money wisely grasshopper! buy another tougher camera there are many out there
Summary: I needed a nearly indestructible digital camera, and finally found one. And It still works. I previously shot only with film, using disposable waterproof cameras for our extreme sports. Once I got the white-balance figured out, I was able to take good shots and video, in quickly changing conditions. The software and hardware image stabilization helps my friends take good photos too. It has a good microphone for recording sound for video but a really weak playback.
Summary: Have had this for about 2yrs now and it gets so much use. I always encourage everyone to buy this camera. Takes amazing underwater pictures and have dropped it many times without any problems.
Summary: Olympus Stylus Tough-8000 12 MP Digital Camera with 3.6x Wide Angle Optical Dual Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Black) This camera is more sophisticated than the description led me to believe. I'm very impressed with the built-in panoramic feature and optical zoom. I bought it for the toughened case and compact size and got more than I bargained for.
