A great beginner camera for this digital age. Plenty of advanced features.

Summary: This Olympus Stylus 740 was an exact copy/replacement for one I have had for several years. I finally managed to break this tough little camera after years of use. (it had been dropped many times and kept coming back for more) I think that well over 10000 photos were taken both on the job and in family life with it. The photo quality is excellent, I wanted a replacement that I was familiar with. This camera is compact and has a 5 times zoom.
Summary: I purchased this as a gift. It's easy and intuitive to use, takes nice pictures, offers weather resistance, and is pretty easy on the battery to boot. It's a very nice camera to carry outside while walking in the woods according to my fiance.
Summary: Mine is the Olympus U 700 All-Weather 7.1 Megapixels. I loved this camera and do not know what the normal lifespan of a camera like this is. It lasted 3 years. It just suddenly "died", the screen went blue with a few numbers on it. I've been told it could be the lense, in which case, it would cost around US$100 to have repaired.
Summary: I had previously owned this model of camera, which is very small and takes pretty good photos. I lost the 1st one, so I purchased a refurbished one. This refurbushed one, which I purchased to take on vacation, day 2, of photo taking, the len's cover got stuck in the 1/2 open position. So now the lens is in danger of getting scratched since its now at least 1/2 open all the time.
Summary: I was a camera salesman at circuit city for two years until they went out of business. I bought this camera a year after it was released when it was on open box. I was unaware how much price retention the camera had, I paid only $107 for the camera when it was selling for over $300 on amazon. I have had nothing but blurry, overly washed out photos from this camera. I owned the 790 previously and sold it because of its lack of zoom.
