Excerpt: I have had two of these now--One I lost one in the river--loved it so much-- just replaced it! I like the easy set-up and functionality of the camera. The video fuction is wonderful for those fun moments you what to capture live!! The quality of the picture once printed is amazing. The download and storage program is easy to use and a great tool to customize any picture! I am very happy with my purchase!
Excerpt: I have been pretty happy with the olympus stylus 720 SW digital camera. We have had a couple of problems, but have been able to work through them. We purchased it a few weeks prior to a vacation to Hawaii and were excited for its underwater picture capabilities. We actually went to the lake that weekend and used it without any problems, but then during our trip to Hawaii some water managed to get in behind the lense despite following manufacturer recommendations.
Excerpt: The three most important things to consider while buying a regular point and shoot is, ease of use, image quality and looks. So while they're quite a few hundred of point and shoots that fit in with those aspects, this particular piece actually excels in all those departments. I was in the market to look for a sturdy camera, which shot good pictures.
Excerpt: I really like this camera...and I've had it for over 2 years now. It is lightweight, functional, easy to download pictures from, stylish, small and takes good photos. My only issue is that the zoom is not very good. I have had absolutely no issues with it not working or being too fragile (one of the features of it is that it is shock-proof). I have not tried it under water (another one of the features), I'm too afraid that when I do it will stop working for some...
Excerpt: I have really enjoyed my camera until it broke. I am the mother of a 6 month old, and take non-stop pictures. The only problem that I had with the camera is that it is super fragile. I kept the camera in the baby bag or purse when not using, and just the josiling it received in those bags was enough to make the lens motor stop working. After calling Olympus, they fixed the camera. Otherwise, GREAT CAMERA. Takes beautiful pictures once you put it in the right setting.
Summary: I am always surprised people have such strong feelings for a camera. I mean, it's a camera. Some pics turn out great, like the ones from diving in Belize, beautiful, just couldn't take it *too* deep. Then there's that picture (on our living room wall!) of a castle in Ireland, the color contrast and definition is fantastic. This little camera has worked well for me over the past 5 years and been impervious to life's little oops moments.
Summary: I've had my Olympus U725SW for between 5 & 6 years now and used it in all kinds of situations. I've used it roaring down the rapids while river rafting on Java Island, Indonesia, snorkling and swimming on a number of islands in Indonesia, roaring on a river boat in Borneo, canoeing down rivers in South Africa & kayaking 400km down the mighty Orange River in Lesotho & South Africa, swimming in swimming pools, lakes and rivers.
Pros: It's taken the toughest treatment I would expect from anything, in fact more, and it has just kept going, so rugged must be up there amongst its strongest features. waterproof it surely is., The body is strong and rugged and can take a beating.
Cons: Zoom is only 3.0X Optical., On/Off button is not easily accessible under difficult circumstances., The function selection is difficult under "action" circumstances.
Summary: We bought this camera for our (precocious) grandson's 4th birthday over a "toy" camera. It was a bit of an extravagance, but not that much more than we would have spent anyhow. The key appeal is its purported "shockproof" feature. We added a gel case for extra protection. The other thing that made it preferable to cameras made for 4-year-olds was a rechargeable battery. He is amazingly adept at operating the camera, using the menus, etc.
Summary: This is not my family's primary camera, this is the camera we use in the pool or during harsh conditions/activities. The underwater pictures are cool, though not the best. The outdoor pictures are good in bright light. Where this camera may disappoint is in lower-light settings, including indoors. For that we have a different camera.
