Summary: I am so stupid for not getting a new camera. I've ruined so many vacation photos with this Olympus. Sent it in to be fixed = still fuzzy. My friend liked it when I got it = now she has fuzzy photos too! Sorry, DON'T BUY OLYMPUS! Something is wrong with the autofocus. It's supposed to be point and shoot, but IT'S FUZZY! I just ruined my daughter's high school graduation photos yesterday.
Summary: I thought maybe my daughter was just a little too rough with this camera, but after reading other reviews and looking on auction sites to see how many other folks were unloading this camera "AS-IS", I now know that is not the case. I have two of these Olympus cameras (an FE-280 and an FE-230) that both exhibit the same problems with the lens mechanism. When the camera is powered on, the lens does a little in & out dance while the mechanism makes some painful noises.
Summary: My first Olympus FE 280 died after a year in the same way that other reviewers have noted on this site. Since I had all the extras for this camera, I bought a refurbished one with a 90 day warranty from Olympus. It died in exactly the same way after 4 months of light use. Repairs cost $70 and only have a 30 day warranty. These cameras are junk.
Summary: Very, very disappointed with this camera. Most of the pictures are blurry. Olympus Master software leaves much to be desired. Have had this camera for over a year now and have not been able to figure out how to capture good pictures. Supposedly, this is a point & shoot!
Summary: For some reason electronic gifts that I bought Christmas of '07 decided to stop working exactly one year later. This camera is one of them. It just went haywire. That's the only way to describe it. It won't focus. It now goes through some crazy ritual when it turns on; opening and shutting the lens cover. I know Olympus is supposed to be a good brand, but this was my first Olympus purchase and I am turned off of the brand completely now.
Summary: I got this camera because I have an older Olympus that takes excellent photos. I was terribly disappointed in the photo quality. Night photos in regular room light are poorly exposed and about half are blurry. The flash is too close to the lens, which may be part of the problem. The small size is handy, which is about all I can say about it. I am returning it. Thankfully it was purchased at a store without a restocking fee.
Summary: I got this one on a trip to replace the Olympus 770SW after smashing that one (700 foot drop) by accident. Needless to say the 770SW took FAR better photos even after being smashed(I'm serious) than the FE280 ever did. After fiddling around with it for an eternity I figured out it wasn't me and that this thing has serious issues. Taking still pictures outside in bright light results in a best-case 50% of the photos not being blurry garbage.
Summary: Una autentica patata...
