Summary: The only best thing about this DSLR was that it was the first to have live view amongst amateur dslrs and also came with a swivel LCD which is much more useful than many think. However in face of recent competition, lack of image stabilisation, inability to flip LCD, absence of movie mode are big missing features.
Summary: Well, my first DSLR. Perhaps I was expecting something super-duper compared to my Canon Powershot -it wasn't, but it sure gave me the latitude I need to fully develop my photography skills.
Pros: Live View... sometimes useful, but when it is, you get a really one-of-a-kind shot. May ne more useful if I were to do more macro shots. Unique body design that enables use of internal flash with another on the hotshoe. Zuiko lenses give good performance -even for the kit lenses. Effective internal dust cleaner.
Cons: Price! Lousy high ISO (>800) performance. Noise appears in blotches rather than as grains. Horrible when horizontal bands start to show up in underexposed shots/areas. "This is normal" says Oly service person. Third party lenses and accessories far less common than for Canon or Nikon. Zuiko lens line-up is limited. Viewfinder is dark. Slow AF (at least for kit lenses) -AF servo hunts in the dark.
