Summary: After a hiatus on photography decided to dust off my camera equipment and start shooting again. Since we completed the new pond decided to use that as subject matter. Using the E-1 and the 70-300 to get close and personal it was apparent that one the body was not fast enough to capture the swimming fish and two it seems the lens was not fast enough given the shooting conditions. Buying a faster lens was not an option given the prices the 50-200 is going for currently.
Summary: So far so good, but I haven't used it on any actual work just yet. Just wish that the instruction manual had been included. Taking the strap off my E410 and putting it on the E3 was also an adventure in itself.
Summary: I ended up buying this camera now in 2013! Mainly because I liked my Olympus macro 50 mm lens which I was using with an adapter on a micro four third camera unfortunately the focus was too slow (~4seconds).But now it's blazing fast. I plan to use this camera at low ISO, I am simply amazed with the image quality and the fine tuned amount of detail in the images. If you are looking for high ISO performance this camera is not for you because it's 5 years old.
Summary: I received this wonderful camera promptly and in excellent condition. It looks brand new. I shot about fifty pictures with it to get the feel of it and found it to be everything it is advertised to be and then some.
Summary: This camera did everything I needed it to do. It probably did more then I required but I'd recommend this camera to anyone. The lenses for this system are wonderful. Weather sealant came in handy lots of times, swivel lcd screen was great. This camera was my workhorse. Take it anywhere, it can handle any situation. I love Olympus menus...they are all the same. Good or bad, you always feel comfortable moving from one camera to another.
Summary: I have all sealed lenses now, and down the beach this is a real boon!! We often wade in up to chest height and as you might imagine than means a lot of salt water about. It has never been a problem - though it is not submersible :) The E5 has picked up all the minor niggles and I guess I should upgrade soon ... The E-system is great if you're focussed more on taking pictures than showing off gear.
Excerpt: This camera has the fastest auto focus I have ever seen. It has many options for the focus. It also has dust reduction that works and is built like a tank. I used the camera in all weather conditions including subzero and it worked flawless. The Olympus E3 is a very fast camera with many features. Absolutely recommended!
