Summary: This has been a great camera but I simply wore it out. At gatherings with many cameras in use… my pix from this camera were ALWAYS the best pix not only in composition but in clarity and definition. Think it is out of production now, however..
Summary: First of all, Olympus is my favorite camera because it works for me. I like the "autofocus' because I don't like to be making constant adjustments. When I use the camera to take photos of my ebay sales products, I can then pick up the camera, take it outdoors for a fast pic, and I don't have to make...
Amazing camera for its time; still a good buy for a low-end camera

Summary: This was my first digital camera; it is a quite out-of-date model but it was among the top of the line when it was made, and in some categories it still holds its own against modern, much pricier models. The biggest strength of this camera is that it takes excellent photos.
Summary: I'm a budgeter, but I also really wanted all the cool manual features and eveything. The D40 suited up perfect. Yes, 4MP may not seem much compared to what's out there now - but I figured, when am I ever going to print anything larger than 8x10 anyway? 4 MP was perfect for me, more would be a waste.
Summary: check my pics in the customer shared gallery for some examples. ;) i bought this camera for the 4MP, the compact size, the sliding cover to protect the lens, the relatively cheap memory format (smartmedia), the AA batteries, and the combination of automatic modes and manual adjustments.
Summary: When this camera first came out, I could only afford to look at them on the dealer's shelves. Small, lots of features and reviews praising the image quality up the gazoo, AA batteries (no scarce proprietary). But the price was anything but affordable.
Summary: The camera is small and compact. The resolution is great and if you buy extra memory it can hold tons of pictures. But...sometimes i want to just use a disposable camera because this one is soooo frustrating.
Summary: I'm always a little leary when buying over the internet. I've got burned before and ordering a digital camera was a big ticket item for me. I have learned that there are three things that I look for to raise my comfort level.
Summary: I've had my Olympus Camedia D-40 for almost a year and I'm very happy with it. I bought it for the combination of small size, sharp lens, and plenty of manual controls. It's also an advantage that the camera uses only two AA batteries.
