Great camera

Mata, Amazon
22 February 2014
  • Summary: This has been a great camera but I simply wore it out. At gatherings with many cameras in use… my pix from this camera were ALWAYS the best pix not only in composition but in clarity and definition. Think it is out of production now, however..

A gem for taking ebay photos! A good value!

desertreader4, Ebay
4 September 2012
  • Summary: First of all, Olympus is my favorite camera because it works for me. I like the "autofocus' because I don't like to be making constant adjustments. When I use the camera to take photos of my ebay sales products, I can then pick up the camera, take it outdoors for a fast pic, and I don't have to make...

Amazing camera for its time; still a good buy for a low-end camera

Alexander C. Zorach "Alex Zorach", Amazon
14 October 2006
  • Summary: This was my first digital camera; it is a quite out-of-date model but it was among the top of the line when it was made, and in some categories it still holds its own against modern, much pricier models. The biggest strength of this camera is that it takes excellent photos.

A great, if dated, choice

Mistypaw, Amazon
27 September 2006
  • Summary: I'm a budgeter, but I also really wanted all the cool manual features and eveything. The D40 suited up perfect. Yes, 4MP may not seem much compared to what's out there now - but I figured, when am I ever going to print anything larger than 8x10 anyway? 4 MP was perfect for me, more would be a waste.

it's been 3 years and i still love my D-40Z

schuss, Amazon
27 March 2005
  • Summary: check my pics in the customer shared gallery for some examples. ;) i bought this camera for the 4MP, the compact size, the sliding cover to protect the lens, the relatively cheap memory format (smartmedia), the AA batteries, and the combination of automatic modes and manual adjustments.

Don't Know Why Olympus Stopped Making It

Confederate, Amazon
18 August 2004
  • Summary: When this camera first came out, I could only afford to look at them on the dealer's shelves. Small, lots of features and reviews praising the image quality up the gazoo, AA batteries (no scarce proprietary). But the price was anything but affordable.

It's very frustrating

I. Chiu "socalguru", Amazon
16 September 2003
  • Summary: The camera is small and compact. The resolution is great and if you buy extra memory it can hold tons of pictures. But...sometimes i want to just use a disposable camera because this one is soooo frustrating.

Amazon
13 September 2003
  • Summary: We bought this camera (actually the European version C-40 Zoom) after doing lots of research, and loved it. It was easy to use, had awesome picture quality, and even made short mpeg movies.

Wow!

Edward W. Giroux, Amazon
10 July 2003
  • Summary: I'm always a little leary when buying over the internet. I've got burned before and ordering a digital camera was a big ticket item for me. I have learned that there are three things that I look for to raise my comfort level.

A Very Good Camera

Amazon
24 May 2003
  • Summary: I've had my Olympus Camedia D-40 for almost a year and I'm very happy with it. I bought it for the combination of small size, sharp lens, and plenty of manual controls. It's also an advantage that the camera uses only two AA batteries.
