great pictures when it works
8 November 2005
Summary: bought this camera to replace a DX series Kodak. My thoughts: - I was excited, at first, by the manual controls, but disappointed by the difficulty of using the pre-set modes when in a hurry (who wants manual all the time?). The option for pre-setting 4 "my mode" settings is great, though.
Summary: This camera packs a lot of features into a small little camera. However, the focus issue is HUGE for me. I have little ones that I'm always photographing, and the auto focus issue doesn't cut it for us. Family photo taking? This camera isn't for you.
Great camera, other than the focus issues noted below

Summary: I concur with the other reviewer in that when the camera manages to focus correctly, the pictures look great. But be prepared to through out 30% of your pictures due to focus/blurring problems. I to have tried numerous camera settings and have yet to find the magic formula.
Otherwise Great Camera Marred By Poor Auto-Focus...

Summary: Having purchased an Olympus D-580 a few months back, and not having been thrilled with its auto-focusing ability for indoor photos, I decided to splurge and purchase the C-7000 after considering the Canon G6 and Sony DSCV3.
Excerpt: Being an avid photographer it took me a long time to plunge from 35mm to digital, and longer again to go from SLR to compact... however I struck gold when I made this purchase. My poor digital slr has taken a back seat to this convenient, compact and easy to use olympus.
Excerpt: I bought this camera thinking Olympus was good quality. We traveled to Egypt and the camera lost 400+ photos. On my return it took 3 months to get it serviced and no information, no reason, no apology, no refund offer or support of any kind - they did not even replace the camera - it can back in...
Pros: none that i can now see after buying and using one
Cons: camera does not focus - looses photos and no Olympus support offered
Excerpt: I bought this camera to be my travel companion, and it has since been all over the world with me. Together we've taken some great pictures, that print up to A4 brilliantly, and in fact I've just had a 16x20 printed, and it still looks great.
Pros: Small, 7 Meg, great results, unbelievable flexability
Excerpt: My previous Olympus digital was the 3020, which was great but bulky (and "only" 3MP). This gives higher resolution and is easy to use, but the flash has nothing like the reach of the previous one. Also, the main manual is only on CD, so you have the choice of printing it (a huge task!
Pros: Compact and robust construction; easy to use
Cons: flash could reach farther; only very basic info in printed manual
