Excerpt: General photography, especially landscape. I appreciate the retro style; takes me back a few years. I also like the emphasis on stills. The image quality is excellent and the camera is very well designed, with all the control at hand. It also gives an impression of solidity and durability, which is reassuring.<br />The only negatives are minor: a bit more weight than these old bones would prefer, but that comes from the solid make.
Pros: Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus, Fast Shutter Speed, Good Image Quality, High ISO Performance, Large Clear LCD
Excerpt: I am thrilled with the Nikon Df! The sensor is as good as the Nikon D4s and I like the retro styling. Picked it up as a back-up camera but am now using it regularly along side my D4s. The smaller body and quieter shutter make it a great camera in close quarters with my subjects. If you have never used a camera made before 2000 it may take a bit to get used to where all the controls are, but if you have it will remind you of your first camera.
Excerpt: I had read about all the reviews on this camera for 6 months only to find out that most of the concerns were not a real concerns for me. The IQ is fantastic, indoor photos look like an outdoor lighted shot yet with a nice dynamic range, very natural, no fill needed. No noise in the shadows like my D300s has. A very clean pixel to pixel 3D looking image. The knobs and controls are about perfect in placement and easy and fast to use.
Pros: Great image quality, Light Weight, One Glance Controls, Quite, Solid Built Well Fitted, Useful In Many Conditions
Summary: I finally took the plunge and bought one of these, so I figure I might as well give my 2 cents. Also I read a gazillion reviews before buying it and there are a few things I don't recall seeing mentioned that I thought others might want to know about. I opened it last night and used it for a while walking around near dusk with the 24-70 2.8. Here are my first impressions: (1) It feels solid and the small size is nice when in "walkaround mode" like I was doing yesterday.
Excerpt: I am really enjoying shooting with my Nikon Df and it is everything that I thought it would be. Before buying I researched this camera on various sites and found out what others thought about it. Most of what I read in reviews I found to be true, both the good and the bad. It seems that most folks think that the photos produced by this camera are beautiful and I certainly agree.
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus, Good Image Quality, High ISO Performance, Quiet
Excerpt: BROKEN in 3 months. I am pro photographer shooting for galleries. I have sold my nikon 7d to buy Nikon DF. I like the feeling of the camera but there was a list of complains regarding it`s software. I didn't have such a slow camera for ages. Reviewing the photos is at least twice slower than anything previously I have owned. The problem came today. The shutter blinds got folded up!! How can Nikon ask 2000€ for a camera that gets broken after 3 months. Very disappointed.
Summary: Great balance, weight and feature set. Outstanding low light sensors allow cranking up of the ISO to 6400 indoors and still have best resolution ever from a digital camera I have ever used. Wish it was a little less costly as I think the price point is too high for the masses and also wish there was a way to transfer wirelessly the photos to my iPad. The Nikon Wireless Mobil Adapter does not support iPads.
Excerpt: I love this camera! At first, it felt a little odd in my hands, because I was used to heavier and bulkier DSLRs (such as the 800). It took a little getting used to, but now I prefer the feel of my DF over my 800. I have rather small hands, and this camera is just a nice fit for me. At the beginning, I really struggled with the front control dial on the camera. What a terrible design and placement!
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus, Fast Shutter Speed, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, High ISO Performance, Large Clear LCD, Quiet, Superior High Iso Usage
Summary: The direct-dial controls on the Nikon Df are effective, intuitive, and convenient for my photography, which is mainly contemplative. The image quality and the file size are ideal for my projects. This camera's technical speed and capabilities far exceed my needs. In the instant of releasing the shutter, I do not need X frames per second; I want to know what to anticipate in the one image.
