Review & Spec for the Nikon D Series D90 12.3 MP Digital SLR Camera
25 September 2013
Summary: First and foremost there's a new CMOS sensor, which Nikon claim produces D300 quality output at up to ISO 6400 and - one of several features to 'trickle down' from higher models - the same highly acclaimed 3.0-inch VGA screen as the D3/D300. Naturally it has Live View with contrast-detect AF and it would have been surprising had it not sported some form of dust removal system.
Summary: The Nikon D90 is a superb camera and the UK price has now dropped to under £400. I bought it instead of the D7000/D7100, because I wanted to use it with my Nikon D300. Same high quality sensor as the D300, and importantly shares the same battery, battery charger and USB cable. It has the same controls as the D300 in a lighter and smaller body, and takes the full range of DX and FX lenses.
A great upgrade from D40 for 1/3 the price these used to cost!

Summary: I was ready to upgrade from my D40 and buying a used D90 off ebay was a great way to save money while getting a DSLR with more features. I paid a third of what these originally retailed for and still paid less than I would have for a new D3100 or D5100, etc. It is so nice having dedicated ISO and white balance buttons, as well as active D lighting. I miss being able to use my pre AI lenses, but since the D40 still works, this will give me two complete camera/lens setups.
