Summary: I was so tired of not being able to get good pictures of my child's performances in a gymnasium or auditorium so I decided to buy this camera. I have only had the opportunity to use it at one function so far, but I couldn't be happier! : ) The pictures are very sharp and clear, the colors are right on and the shutter speed was fast enough that I didn't miss any shots. I wish I had purchased a Nikon DSLR years ago!
Summary: Because of all the dSLR and lens choices, I was concerned I would either buy too advanced or not advanced enough. The d5100 with the non-VR seems to have hit my sweet spot. Manual settings are super easy to use and produce quality pics. And there are plenty of advanced features to keep me learning and growing as a photographer for many years. I've used the long exposure settings to take some cool water pics with a tripod.
Summary: Very good quality picture and excellent quality materials for the price I bought it for I could say that I was so lucky to get this deal. I am really enjoying using this camera, and it is so easy to use. Shipping and handling was highly managed by Walmart team, they even called me to confirm the order details with me, and I think it was also for security reasons. I thank them for that. If you want to enjoy your photo experience this camera would be your goal to buy.
Summary: I bought the nikon D5100 in March and I was extremely excited about it. It took wonderful pictures until about 2 months ago. The pictures were no longer focused especially in one area of the photos and the lens would make a weird noise when I would focus. I thought maybe it was the lens so I tried a different lens but the pictures are still poor and blurry.
Summary: Nikon D5100 could be really a great camera for beginner and getting in black Friday deal in low price with additional 55-200 mm lens is a bonus. however this lens is non-vr guess. Since i got Nikon D7000 so I did no left with any choice except to return D5100 that was my primary choice in low budget before I got D7000 in hand. I did not use much so ca not comment on battery life.
Summary: First of all, this camera takes very good pictures, which is the main reason I bought it. Given the price, 5 STARS for image quality, features and convenience of use. Second, I got the body (no kit lenses, which seem to have pretty mediocre ratings from users), along with the Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX (5+ STARS) and the Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S DX (4+ STARS for athletic events).
