Summary: I have read more articles and camera reviews before buying my gr8 Nikon D5100. Low noise / picture quality/ depth of the pixels / good battery life.. And it has all the features with this cost :)! Please update firmware A&B once you get the product, it will improve the performance and battery! A 1.02 - improves the battery, now we can take ~700 shots. B 1.01 I am sure D5100 is universal trusted product!!!
Summary: I bought this camera set up when we were moving from Texas to Alaska. We planned on driving and wanted to make a summer vacation out of the move. The drive was incredible, Alaska has been incredible and this camera has done an outstanding job of capturing all of it. I haven’t found that I need anything other than what came in the kit as of yet and I don’t really see outgrowing the camera but who knows I might add another lens or something at some point.
Summary: Great features at great price. Comes with two lenses which is an added benefit. Nikon D 5100 with 16.2 mega pixels takes excellent pictures. I would recommend take photos on aperture mode or shutter priority mode instead of auto mode. Night portrait and landscape results are sharp and clear with minimal noise. Read manual (and adjust settings specially ISO sensitivity if you are on aperture mode).
Summary: As an amateur, I feel no difference between VR and non-VR lenses. Happy with the product. Moreover that I got it on black Friday for $499! I expected it to be much larger, but it came out pretty compact DSL camera. Image quality is great. Cannot say anything yet about battery life, did not test it for this parameter.
Summary: I bought the nikon D5100 in March and I was extremely excited about it. It took wonderful pictures until about 2 months ago. The pictures were no longer focused especially in one area of the photos and the lens would make a weird noise when I would focus. I thought maybe it was the lens so I tried a different lens but the pictures are still poor and blurry.
