Summary: All of the materials in the pack (excluding the camera itself) are middle-to-low grade, and therefore not for the professional/expert. I would highly recommend not purchasing this for the extras, but only if you find a deal on the camera+2 lenses. I had set my expectations very low on the quality of the 'extras' and I hit it right - they were not that great. In summary - Great camera, Great lenses, Good bag, Mediocre-Low quality extras.
Excerpt: I usually don’t take out my Nikon D5100 for heavy duty or casual purposes. That’s because it is high resolution DSLR and I am totally in love with it. You can say I am very possessive about this first ever DSLR I ever bought. Even a bit possessive perhaps.
Summary: Cons: Some of the accessories are a little cheap. No lens cap retainers. Lens hood is basically useless. Pros: GREAT camera, backpack fits everything...and although some of the lens attachments are cheap, they produce some pretty cool effects. I've shot about 500 photos with this rig and I've yet to be disappointed. Big plus that it comes with a tripod and a Nikon VR telephoto lens. 8gb card holds more photos than I can shoot in a day.
Summary: I got this camera a few months ago and I have to say, this is one of the best beginners DLSR cameras out there. The interface is simple and with enough practice, simple to understand what the numbers mean. I love the swivel LCD screen (it has come in handy when filming and taking pictures). I would recommend this camera to any beginner out there looking to go from a point and shoot to an SLR camera.
Summary: photos really pop, shine, however you describe it, nikons in general have excellent image quality. not very good battery life, buy another battery or two. auto focus is kind of slow and squirrely, build quality is cheap but great pics. it is 2+ years old and i paid half what they want here but go for it, it is a great camera.
Summary: I bought this camera as a back-up to my D7000. It is much lighter/compact, which is great when i want to use the camera for personal use/family outings. I both love and hate that the display screen folds out- its great for live view when i do high angle shots (i'm super short, so i have to hold it above my head) and I can still see what i'm taking a photo of. what i hate about this screen is that its either out/open to the side, or closed and you cant see it.
Summary: I was sent a USED camera! No doubt about it. The flip-out screen looked like someone's sticky fingered child had gotten a hold of it. Smear marks and scratches all over it. Additionally, the recess where the screen docks is filled with enough dirt, dust and grime to fill someone's rolled up blue jean cuffs. Looks like it had been on a nature hike. It's going back, TODAY! A VERY BIG DISAPPOINTMENT, AMAZON!!!
