Summary: She searched for the longest time and all she wanted was THAT camera. She knew just what she was looking for and she got it. I'm not a camera expert but for what she told me, it's PERFECT. I try to use it w/o reading the booklet and it was OK, but still need to go deeply into it. For me a camera is a camera, but when looking at the pictures, you can see the difference in the product. Hope we can enjoy the camera for a long time.
Summary: I think the Nikon D5100 is one of the best DSLR cameras for the money. Get a nice used one for far less than the D5200 and I think it's a better camera. Who needs 24 megapixels? I'm now on my second one (first one was stolen) and I would readily buy another if need be. The only time I would upgrade is to go up to a FX format camera.
High-end camera, just from a few years back. Buy this one!

Summary: My overall rating is based on what I expected for a camera in my price range. The camera has everything you might want in an entry-level DSLR; plus a few extras that are just for fluff. I bought a 50mm f1.8 AF-D lens. I like the manual focus for creativity and experimenting. My camera came with the 18-55mm kit lens and I think it is actually a great mid-range zoom lens.
