What's not to LOVE!

Y's Photos, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: It does all the things it boosts about and more! I shoot sports and wildlife and this camera not only keeps up, but is one step ahead of me. I must say it's fun to be at a football game shooting at 16000 ISO, and when the guy next to you asks and looks, then just shakes his head with a WOW expression, you know your money was well spent - OK, the real justification is when you process the images and can still blow them up.
  • Pros: Awesome in low light, Fast Focus, Well built
  • Cons: Expensive

Awesome Do Everything Well Camera

  • Excerpt: Prior to the purchase of this outstanding "Do Everything Well" camera I used the Nikon D7000 with great results. In contrast to the D7000, the D4s has greater resolution, better color, contrast and dynamic range. What I appreciate the most is the ability to increase ISO with little noise. I also greatly appreciate the speed (autofocus & 11 fps) since I shoot highly active insects, sports and grandchildren every week.

Fast and Rugged

Uncle Earl, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: For me, 16MP is a sweet spot and especially for "full frame" DSLR because of the nearly 8 micron pixel pitch. I was expecting noise free images at base iso and near noise free up to iso 6400. Check! I was expecting blazing bursts....check. I was expecting decent iso 204K images.... check. So how good is that high iso performance? As you would expect from the DXO Optics sensor ratings, it compares with the D800 or D800E up to iso 25600.
  • Pros: Built like a tank, Excellent Image Quality, very fast af, Works With Afs Lenses

Amazing Camera

Zach, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: This camera is amazing. Before this camera I had the Nikon D3s which I loved it did everything I needed to do from high iso to fast focusing. I did have some problems with focusing though. I went to B&H and tried the D4s I was skeptical because of the high price but now that I bought I can say that it was worth every last penny I spent on it. The focusing system is extremely fast in low light. I shot over 800 images and not one was out of focus.
  • Pros: BATTERY, Focusing system, ISO, Speed
  • Cons: none

Like it so far.

  • Excerpt: I wore the shutter out on my D300 and so finally upgraded. Wow! The viewfinder alone is worth it; I can see so much more clearly through it. It's a pound heavier, but is so solid I don't mind. I will have more time this winter to explore its many advanced functions.

FAST and Who Needs Light?

  • Excerpt: This camera is without a doubt a speed demon. Not just FPS but also acquiring focus (new group AF rocks), resetting controls, power on, etc. Built solid with no slop and feels like the grip was custom made for my hand. Yes, it's BIG and yes, it's EXPENSIVE. It is an amazing tool (good tools cost) and if low light (AND I mean LOW LIGHT - 12800iso usable right out of the camera!
