Summary: Very poor quality camera. Bought one for my wife a couple years ago, had to send it back to factory because it had "foreign matter" inside the camera, causing specs in pics. Over $200.00 repair bill. Now, the card reader went out.
Summary: Very lightly used camera--still lifes and occasional portraits for journalism work--and it's been in the shop almost constantly. Customer service from Nikon is beyond awful--nobody pays any attention to what you put in the e-mail.
Summary: My camera never worked right from the moment I left the store. Shots would come out overexposed, underexposed, out of focus, you name it. After some frustration and a trip to Japan where every shot turned out garbage, I took the camera back to the store where I purchased it, and they agreed that...
Summary: After providing the documentation that Nikon requested to demonstrate that my D40X was not a gray market product, Nikon returned my camera to me unrepaired leaving me totally stranded with a D40x paperweight. This is a nice camera, but Canon's customer service must certainly be better.
Summary: This camera is only for the amateur that wants something a bit better than a point and shoot. It does deliver lovely clear pictures but..... I have had my D40x for one year and 20 days and the main circuit board has blown taking the flash circuit with it.
Summary: This was my first digital SLR and when I first got it about a year ago it was great. However, the door for the SD card is easily broken and was! The main circuit board has just blown and would cost £190 to repair. Time to look for something else.
