  • Summary: I purchased this product and needed to have it repaired after about 5 months. When I tried to get the camera repaired I sent it to Nixon since it had a 1 year manufactures warranty. Nixon would not repair the product because they said it was a "Gray Market" product. I was not aware when I purchased the camera that it said it was a "gray market" product on the description. I probably would not have purchased it had I known ahead of time.

  • Summary: I was expecting more after read some reviews about how good this camera works. I'm really disappointed how this camera have a lot of limitations and, I'm pretty sure that I should have bought the Nikon D3300 or a Canon EOS Rebel T5.

  • Summary: DO NOT BUY AN IMPORT MODEL!!!! AND DO NOT BUY FROM SUPERFINDS!!!! Basically an import model means there is no warranty and it cannot be fixed by Nikon. I made the mistake of buying one of these from superfinds and it died after only about 80 photos and less than one day of use. Superfinds did not replace it and Amazon was no help.

  • Summary: Unfortunatedly, the camera worked for only 3 pictures, than turned it off and didn't work ever since. I have contacted Nkon do Brasil, and they are working on it as we speak. But maybe I won't be able to have the repair in within the warranty, since it was purchased overseas - brazilian policy of Nikon do Brasil. I am still waiting on a reply of them, afterwards, maybe I can review the products better!

Known Issues with Nikon

  • Summary: The rear lens cap on the 55m-200m lens was stuck on. I took it to 2 different camera shops and they couldn't even get it off. After wasting half a day driving to camera stores & speaking to the seller, they informed me this was the 5th one they've dealt with recently & Nikon is supposed to inspect it prior to boxing up. I wanted to keep everything & swap out the defective lens.

Constantly freezes and has No, ZERO customer support.

  • Excerpt: Bought this for a gift on Father's Day. It froze up that afternoon and was returned to the retailer the next day. They said it was a faulty memory card and replaced it. It continued to freeze up. It was returned to the retailer 5 times before they said to send it back to Nikon. Nikon simply cleaned it and sent it back, saying that there was no problem. Granted, it may not have frozen for them, but the repeat history is conclusive.

Gray market supplier

  • Summary: Purchased this camera in January 2014. It broke while on vacation in July 2014. Contacted Nikon about repairs and was informed this was a gray market camera and would not be eligible for warrantee in US. Offered to pay for repairs and was told by Nikon they would not repair gray market cameras. Contacted Amazon who told me although camera was past date of return, they would take it back and give a refund. Amazon is great.

  • Excerpt: My husband bought this camera for me,as a present. I thought this would be a step up from my Sony A100. Well it's not. This is more like a fancy point and shoot. I HATE this camera. IT DOES NOT DO WHAT I WANT IT TO DO. I REALLY WISH WE WOULD OF SAVED OUT MONEY AND GOT A BETTER ONE. Now I'm stuck with a camera that is a step backwards from the one I had.

Did not work out the box

  • Summary: The camera didn't function properly out of the box. Photos were partial washed out. After one week of making adjustments not one photo came out completely. After discussions with Nikon I decided to return it to them for analysis and repair. Disappointed that Amazon would ship a product in this condition. Still waiting to hear from Nikon.
