Excerpt: I mainly use this camera for landscape and low light photography. This camera does well in low light with moderate iso values. I was actually impressed at the low noise that this camera produced when used in conjuction with iso settings. This camera takes amazing photos day or night as one would expect with a dslr. All the buttons and displays are easy to see and navigating through the menu was a breeze. White balance settings are very flexible.
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus, Fast Shutter Speed, Good Image Quality
Excerpt: Awesome camera... Received the refurbished model and although everything worked there was a crack on bottom and LCD screen... Return process easy... Hoping the replacement refurbished camera will be in the as new condition they described before I purchased... Camera awesome... Highly recommend...
Summary: This is my first foray into digital photography. The D3100 is fascinating in its ability to go from point and shoot photography into the world of professional photo shooting. Even with the limited use I've had so far I've learned a lot about photography in general and how to use the more sophisticated capabilities of this camera. I would definintely recommend purchasing a 55 - 200m zoom lense for the camera for taking long shots.
Excerpt: Good: A compact, light DSLR good for starter. Beginners will find all the features adequate for their day to day usage. Good Price point right now since Nikon D3200 has come out in 2012.Could be Better: 1. LCD Resolution could be better. D3100 have a worse screen than many of the Point and Shoot camera out there. Some of the worst screen. But again we don't view pics on camera, we view most of them on computer.2. No Autofocus on AF lens.
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus, Good Image Stabilization, Small easy to carry, Very Light
Cons: Lag / Shutter Delay, Noisy At High ISO, Poor LCD Resolution
