Summary: Once you get going it is as simple as point and click. i am sure there are plenty of chances for the technical folk to experiment. Good quality and value for money. i have limited experience but I can still get a good result with this camera.
Pros: Easy to use, Compact, Build quality, Screen size
Summary: For my first SLR i love it. that picture quality is fairly good although some are a bit pixelated. overall as a whoel a good investment for a started camera and with more training and better lenses it will be a wodnerful tool to have
Summary: Not bad to get DSLR round about 1000$. So far no problem. But sometimes feel bulky with long FL lens. Reasonal battery life. For image quality, as I haven't use other DSLRs, I don't know. But better than my portable one IXUS 100 though it is not suitable to compare. I never feel regretful to have Nikon.
Summary: Came as a bundle with interchangeable lenses. Good price and quality for entry level digital SLR. Hard to use depth of field on this model and inbuilt flash is poor (not diffuse enough) Lenses good, focus good.
Great value package for the getting started in SLR photography

Summary: The D3100 with kit lenses represents great value for someone wanting to learn SLR photography. Sturdy build, great battery life and light weight (compared to other SLR bodies). I've purchased items from both the Sydney City and Chatswood stores, and Ted's staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Summary: The Nikon D3100 is good for people like me, just starting out in photography. The camera is easy to use and has great image quality. The camera has a movie setting on it but the sound quality really isn't that great. i would recommend this camera to anyone that is starting out in photography i would love to take some great photos. The camera is not all good though for example when on auto setting it makes annoying noises when trying to focus.
Summary: Being the fifth Nikon we have purchased over time, this one has refined the usability of the model it replaced, the D60. The 3100 gets a high quality camera with two great lenses for under a $1000. We enjoy nature photography, and when a pair of Tawny Frogmouths nested just outside our house, we shot the development of the young as they grew in the nest. The picture quality is staggering considering these birds are masters of disguise.
