A very good and reliable first DSLR

Sandeep Sulakhe, flipkart.com
22 January 2013
  • Summary: I have been using my D3100 for about a year and half now. When I bought it then it was for 29,000 with kit-lens. I see that the price has not dropped much - that tells something about its credence. When it was launched, buying this was a no-brainer- it was simply the best entry level DSLR available in the price range then. But now a D5100, or maybe Canon 550D if you can stretch a little, will be a better VFM buy IMHO.

Nikon D3100 (14.2mp) Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens Kit

1 January 2013
  • Summary: I am a retired press photographer and bought the Nikon D3100 to photograph my Nieces wedding. Although I have been using a Nikon D70 for a number of years, I have found the advances made in the D3100 quite incredible, the image quality produced by the 14.2mp sensor produces rich colour with excellent detail, enabling really good enlargements, often my prints are A3+ size. Start-up time is almost instant and ready for action before you can put the camera to your eye.

Nikon D3100 - the best camera for it's price

awesome11, Ciao
9 December 2012
  • Excerpt: From the very first minutes I liked this camera. Lightweight, relatively small, easy to use. It has digital camera modes such as: no flash, daylight, nature, macro, children, etc. or Auto. You can also find a manual control. Relatively long battery life is one of the advantages of this camera. It shots 500 photos without need to charge. And the charger included with this camera is quite normal. In this case the camera is charged after 1.5-2h.
  • Pros: The price, good photo quality, choice of lenses available, battery life, easy to use
  • Cons: No image stabilization system

  • Summary: I got my first DSLR a few days back. It is a Nikon 3100D. Its an awesome camera in a descent budget. I got some photographer friends with this cam, and the results are amazing. But I think the price in flipkart is a little higher than local stores. Anyway about camera its the best one for a beginner. It got quality, style and potential.
