Summary: I have just received my Nikon D3100 and I did buy the camera with additional Nikkor 55-300 lens (I was pleased with the USD 100 rebate promotion). I had read on one of the posts that the camera is made in Japan, but please note both the camera and 18-55 lens are Made in Thailand. The Nikon 55-300 DX VR lens is Made in China. I will update the review on features soon.
Excerpt: This camera is everything it claims to be. Good entry to mid level DSLR. Image quality is excellent. Auto focus and vibration reduction works well with included 18-55mm lens. I also run a 55-300mm lens that has great image quality but a little slow on the auto focus with faster moving objects. I have worked around this issue by tracking the subject while shooting. The video function is somewhat disapointing. Auto focus is very jerky and noisy while taking video.
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus, Good Image Quality
Summary: OK so i'm a high school student who was interested in photography ever since i took my first photography class. I loved all the things relating or about photography. I always used to use some point and shoot camera but not anymore. I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA and couldn't be more happier. This is a superb DSLR for the money. It has FANTASTIC & CRISP IMAGES. I can't afford a 1,000+ DSLR so i bought this one. This still is a great DSLR.
Summary: I'm certainly not a professional photographer, nor do I inspire to be, so that might explain why I rated that the camera didn't exactly meet my expectations. Over all, the camera is awesome, takes great pictures, does everything that I need it to do - and more! The only thing that I was very disappointed in is the zoom feature. Before this camera I owned a Kodak Easy Share and I was able to zoom far, far away. Not so with this lens.
