Excerpt: I was looking to upgrade from my previous non SLR digital camera. I had used a film SLR for many years and even this "entry level" camera had so much more in features than my film camera. I was not prepared to spend a lot of money to get features that I would rarely use and the D3100 fitted my needs.<br />I have frequently purchased factory refurbished products, since they are reviewed for quality by factory trained technicians.
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus, Fast Shutter Speed, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, High ISO Performance, Large Clear LCD
Excerpt: I am a boat captain and the camera is great for family shots and wilderness shots, does everything I need it to and more. It has been very fun learning about photography and the pictures are amazing, even in auto when I am in a rush for a shot. Battery was deficient though, unhappy about lack of help for that. Summary: This is my first d/SLR. So far, I've been very happy with my photographic results. The on-board RAW editing and video trimming reduce the amount of housekeeping I'd normally do in post on a desktop. WB is the only feature I have set to Auto and it's very accurate in most scenarios. I really have only two complaints: 1.) No manual mode for video (although, you can use a flashlight to adjust the exposure and then lock it.) 2.
good, but... wishing I could splurged on a full frame

Summary: I like this. But I really wanted a full frame. The reason it gets 4 stars is because you cannot use a wireless remote shutter with this model but you could with the d3000. I dont get that. I ordered one and had to return it.
